This came to my mind because a sub I know has been making contact with Doms and Masters who know me on collarme. Every once in a while she will ask me do you know this person and the chances are we have meet at a munches. So hard to remember every one’s screen names also they change them over time. So what I am wondering how many people do you know on collarme that could be use as references. That is why it is important to attend munches and events for these people can be your reference.

I personally can count 19 people in 6 states ( coast to coast) that I have met and spent time with that I could give as references and viceversa---they include Doms/Domme/male and female submissives--each of those I still talk with and more than half are close friends I talk with weekly. Two of them work in My company! But My repute speaks for itself and never once have I been asked to provide a reference.

I don't attend local munches because the local group here is filled mostly with idiots, IMHO

On here. Absolutely none as yet. Though meeting one from here (As a friend, unfortunatly nothing more) next Monday if all goes well.

But like IB, I'm meeting her because we've started building a friendship.... screw refrences! Just meet somewhere safe and trust your instincts. I have plenty of friends already they can talk to if really needed, but this reffrence stuff isn't the norm here, at least not outside of the scene (Don't know about in the scene as I haven't had much to do with that so far)

Currently I know of about two dozen people who are on collarme who have also met me and talked with me offline. About a half dozen of those people know me very well and over an extended period offline.

But I don't do the whole reference thing.

Same as MHOO. I don't attend my local munch because the people there are more concerned over cliques and who said what than actual fellowship. I graduated high school almost four years ago, and I'm pretty glad I got out of that environment. I don't need the same personal politics in my life now.

If I like you, I'll meet you. If not, then no dice.

I'm of the opinion that we aren't interviewing for a job here. So I really don't look to have someone as a references. If a person I'm talking to need references and we're looking at a relationship that will be more then just passing friends then obviously this person has baggage. Since I only deal with baggage when I'm traveling and only if it's mine, I'm not going to deal with this persons baggage. They can come back and try again when they're better equiped to handle a relationship on an adult level.

If we're just looking at being friends and they need references then I tell them "Don't let the door hit ya where the Lord split ya on your way out." This isn't a popularity contest.

7 here on Collarme that I know in RL.

But, like everyone else, I don't do the reference thing either, nor do I attend the local munches. I rely on my own judgement, not someone elses.

I don't reference. I see no need and agree "Using people is not cricket". Iron Bear said it right again. If something doesn't feel right it probably isn't and all the references in the world can't override my gut feeling.

I know several people here, but I don't do and have never been interested in "references". My instincts are usually pretty damn good and I just go with that. Anyone who starts asking me for a list of the last 6 subs I was with or Doms I know is not likely to get along well with me anyway.

The only time I have used references was to help secure invitatons for a private function. That was just simply a matter of yes I know them can they be invited?

Of the people here on CM who actively post, I know just two in person. One is someone I consider a very close friend. Several others, I "know" from other discussion forums, but have never met.

None from CM. I have met about 20 all across the country from pogo.com, and i have plans to meet a few from my South Beach message board.[:)]

I've met about 30 people on CM in real life and hope to meet more in the future. Not that I want to meet with just anyone because they are on CM, but because I've built a friendship with them. There are several that are planning to travel here to Nashville to watch me drive nails through a scrotum!!!

Sorry, I do have to keep bringing that up, for one very fun reason.

i know 2 people in real life who post on the boards, probibly 4 0r 5 more who never post, and probibly a few i havent stumbled over yet. i have never had a need for references, but i would like to think i would get good ones :)

i like going to munches cause i get to meet people and see all my friends, but i never gave much thought to meeting people to get references, hugs yes, references no.

Most of the people I know r/t, I knew before Collarme, so not sure if you're counting them. I've meet 4 people strictly through collarme, have played with 2 of them ::and will do so again:: and the other two are just friends and will remain so. All together, I know perhaps a dozen people here and have played with most of them... or plan to in the future. ;)

As for references, I don't give them unless I've personally played with someone and only give to people I know r/t. To get an email from someone whom I don't know to give a reference is an exercise in pointlessness.

I have met about a dozen people because of collarme, and I personally know about another 30-35 that are members that were friends or that I know through local lifestyle events before we all came to this site.

If someone specifically asks me about someone...I will certainly be honest with them. However, I will only make commentary on those I know well enough to do so....and I won't get into the "Well...I heard....." or "So and so told me". I will also not say anything to someone else that I would not feel comfortable in saying if the person being discussed were standing right before me.

Not really interested in references, giving or getting them, but I know 5 people r/t who are also on collarme and there may be others from my local community that I don't know whether they are on collarme or not.
