i'm completely shaven. the idea of being otherwise seems strange. i view it as obligatory as part of good grooming.

oh fuck no.

Ionce met the TASTIEST little bubble-booty, a neo-hippy from Belgium, she had leg hairs 2 INCHES LONG at the lover shins, (armpit hair longer), this was part of her "style" and charm, she'd be "less" without this hair, so NO.

I mean if the hair is UGLY with bad texture that's another thing...

god I am feeling queeny today.

Yeah- I am suspecting the screen name is compromised.  lol

Anyhow- I think shaved legs look good on a lady.   Tho- and this will sound odd- casual and plain are very appealing - opposed to overly made up.

I love to feel nylons on a woman.

I shave my legs every day. It's the only thing my mom told me about sex, that men don't like hairy legs wrapped around their backs.

I am amazed on how much I learn from CM.  lol.

:-)   I guess I never thought about that.

dreamofthemoon -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 6:57:32 AM)

i agree with porcelain about the good grooming part of it, though living alone and come winter, i'll let it go a day or two longer before i have to shave it.  Otherwise, i try and keep my legs shaved (because i love how smooth skin feels, too, girly) most of the year. [:)]

divi -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 7:01:54 AM)

I shave all the time in the summer.. the winter I tend to let it go

pahunkboy -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 7:03:37 AM)

I shave some of the upper trunk when it is 100 degree weather- and a tad of the stray chest hairs.
and belly...

but when it is 10 below-  I do not.   I have 2 hair styles- short for summer long for winter.   I go for the soothes possible shave on my face= tho if the heat runs alot- I might let the mustache area with a few days growth simply to catch the air particles from going into the nose.

If anyone want a legs hand inspection- I will be over in 10 minutes!!

So, how did shaving become part of "good grooming"?   I mean, deodorant is so we don't smell bad, washing is so we don't get infection, cleaning teeth is so we don't get infection or smell bad.  To me that is the definition of "good grooming".  I brush my hair, but when I lived on the boat I didn't.  Makeup?  Are you kidding?  Only on special occasions.  I don't pluck, although vanity makes me get rid of any lil darkened peach fuzz.

But good grooming?  I'm not being judgmental.  *Truth is I"m somewhat lazy about anything beyond cleanliness and smelling good.   Why is it good grooming?  Lots of us are bad at it evidentally, specially in winter.

Well, it's just something i've been doing since puberty. [&:]  And i'm not into the hairy legs look, but that's just my opinion.

Two things:

Um, at risk of being a big cynical meanie, I'm going to hazard the guess that shaving body hair became part of the 'basic grooming' kit as part of the whole keeping-razor-salesmen-employed thing . . . . . .

It basically goes like this:

Straight-razors lasted practically forever. So once a nice mid-19th century razor salesman had sold one to a household, that was it. No more sales potential to that house . .... Razor salesmen need regular employment, just like every other sales person . .. . . So, some smarty invented the first in a long line of disposable razors. Yay! Razor salesmen now had a reliable source of income.

This is a well-known narrative in the annals of American business development . . . . This is progress, innovation, making the world a better place for capitalism. Going from products built to last forever, but lacking that cradle-to-grave job 'protectionism' thing (yeah, *snicker*), to built-in obsolescence & garbage dumps taking over the world . .. . . (But ignore all that, it's unimportant.)

What matters is that the overall productivity of humanity was increased -- just remember that the next time you're hunched over, nicking yourself. You're doing your part for the economy . . . . .

[;)]

Eh. & let's not forget the significant function served by anything that makes people think they are innately in need of fixing & not beautiful & loveable in & of themselves . . . . . What would all the women do if they thought they were sexy, desirable, & etc, without buying a bunch of products & spending hours 'working to make themselves presentable', huh?

Remember, everyone (this stuff ain't just for ladies anymore), insecurity sells!!! People buy more stuff if they feel worse about themselves than if they feel better . . . . . . Neuroses are good for capitalism. Industry needs you lacking in self-esteem . . .. .

& the other thing?

Pahunk, yer killin' me, dude . .. .. . *bends over laughing* . . . . . I keep picturin' you shaving your legs & wrapping 'em 'round some guy . . . .

I know, I'm queen-buzz-kill on this subject. Apologies, don' wanna bust up the party . . . . . .

Let me nuance that little ranting previous post of mine -- I'm all for 'recreational shaving' . .. . . It's the near-mandatory stuff, especially when it largely exists to fuel some kind of assembly line of automatic consumption, that frackin' bugs heck outta me . . . . .

As far as the shaving issue goes. My girl is fastidious when it comes to her cleanliness. She showers everyday, washes her hair everyday, and shaves her legs at least once every other day. I love her for it, and yes I love the smooth leg feel, but it would not bother me if she let her leg hair grow. She used to shave her "V" area as well but I told her that that one bothers me because I like a woman not a child, and with her being so tiny it troubled me. So she stopped shaving there.

As far as shaving being part of good grooming, or cleanliness. If shaving were good for you all men would do it too. One of the reasons that it is said shaving became common amongst western cultures is that as dresses got shorter and women's legs became visible the hair was considered unattractive because men wanted to see the legs. Also since men tend to be attractive to younger women on general, hairless legs reminded men on the younger more nuptial girls and hair on a women's legs made him think of older motherly women. And yes, shaving became popular because of razor sellsmen... So all these things combined led to the modern practice in the West.

LaTigresse -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 12:11:11 PM)

I have such fine sparse hair that the only way to tell if I have shaved my legs, within the last month or two, is in bright light. And that is just from the knees down. Knees up is bald. I swipe a razor up them whenever I think about it. To add to that.........I think the last time I shaved my armpits was close to a week ago and I just looked......cannot see anything, just feel a slight tickle of fuzz.

I am a mutant.

LaTigress,

My Great-grandmother was that way. Her hair was so fine that she never had to shave her legs a day in her life. She was very proud of that fact... God, I miss her...
