LadyHibiscus -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 3:37:24 PM)

I'm not a real hairy person.  I hit the pits once a week, it's only stubble... the legs..... welll.........shoot, who looks at my legs?  I"ve never shaved above the knee in my life, never had to, and all that waxing and epiladying killed half the follicles.  I go at em ever other week.

When I was younger, I tried to see how long I could get the hair to grow... answer---not very!  I am just sparsely furred, including the hoo-ha.  I look at French films and holler MERKIN!!!  Because who has pubic hair that plush???  Not ME.  So I trim it wayyyy back and shave in between.  Hmph.  Saves on razors, anyway!

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 3:44:52 PM)

I hate hate hate shaving so I only do it if I absolutely have to. Waxing gives a better result though so I'm more likely to do that.

Bless you and your smooth legs, my friend [;)]

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 5:49:18 PM)

Since I wear only dresses and skirts, I do like my legs smooth.  Since the hair on my legs is pretty sparse, I can get away with once a week.  For special occasons, I'll shave right before.

I feel no particular obligation to shave my legs.  I do it because it pleases me.  When I own a sub, I like for him to do it.

It's the near-mandatory stuff, especially when it largely exists to fuel some kind of assembly line of automatic consumption, that frackin' bugs heck outta me . . . . .

amen.

See this is the thing... I keep seeing "have to" and "get away with" and "don't need to" and other similar phrases.  I just think there are way more interesting sensations with the hair.

I have an issue with the whole throwing away razor thing too, kia.

I think (ducks the flames) we are too uptight about this kind of stuff.  It reminds me of shampoo and conditioner - you shouldn't NEED conditioner.  If you wash your hair and strip it of its natural oils and then put conditioner on it to replace the oils... well that's just ... Why not just let it go a day or too?  Let the natural oils you know... lubricate your hair.  Why buy what your body makes naturally?  (Of course there are times this is not true, and I have noticed that my hair is getting drier as I'm getting older)

But I'm with kia - why am I spending gobs of money to pollute my environment, strip my body of something natural and then do it all over again.  Sure, I do it when I'm required, and on occasion, I enjoy the process, but generally speaking?  Nope.  Es natural... esso!

DemonKia -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 8:24:32 PM)

lol

I so hear ya, sunshinemiss . . . . . .

& I omit a lot of other 'necessary' feminine potions & unguents, too . .. .

Primarily out of serious tightwad objections, but those tend to overlap nicely with my environmental concerns . . . . . I'm kinda notorious for thinking that dish soap is a household every-cleaner, lol . . . . Think, um, bachelor. Yep, I'm more than a little bit bachelor . . . .

& I want to be careful to specify that women (or guys, I'm inclusive) who choose to shave their legs, or whatever femme-grooming thing, have every right. If all that futzin' around brings a woman joy & satisfaction, more power to her . . . . . Make-up, pedicures, hair salons, if those are priorities for taking care of self, go to it . . . . . I'm mostly stickin' to referencing my own peculiarities in this thread, to offer contrast . . . .. .

Weirdly enough, I have become fond of shavin' my hoo-ha in recent years ( [;)] to LadyHib for that euphemism, whoo-ha!) & I didn't used to like that activity . .. . . . I do that shave several times a year without a partner, more with . . . . .

& I'm seriously reluctant to expose my head hair to soap anymore. It gets rinsed regularly, scalp massage, but soap is evil. Dries my hair into a fuzzy frizzy straw heap . . . . Occasionally I use conditioner on it, & I have Murray's Beeswax goo that I put on it regularly, but that's cuz I'm nursing major vanity-hair these days. Bleached & dyed & trying to grow it out long again -- which can be a contradiction in terms. (&, yes, I really need to post some pics of le mohawke rouge . . . .. . . )

& we could do a whole other thread on hair-care, lol . .. . .

Okay, I cop to being, like, half bachelor-guy-ish & half grrrly girlish . . . . . *surrenders*

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 9:32:38 PM)

if nadless scumbag wall street predators can sell bad loans/mortgageshedge funds and ponzi schemes, why can't WE sell a REALLY HAIRY Punani-zilla Bush?

I mean I LOVE the idea of selling this and changing the cultural paradigm on a 1: Green Save the Planet's Air principle-platform and also a 2: equality/parity princliple:

1:  what's the carbon footprint caused by the generation of All THE PRODUCTS required for women to remove the hair in question?  Versus how much climate change ACHIEVED by cancelling that out IMMEDIATLY, TODAY? (like turning off every lightbulb you don't fucking need to have on...)
\
2: let's have fun with Germs (aka Ms. Greer, referred to as "Germs" by folks that knew her in University, and yes,My Mum met Germs) and "The Hack" quoted in Kia's non-hack profile (hacks don't get to be mentioned by name), and go with shaving PARITY - women are only expected to shavethe SAME SQUARE INCHES AMOUNT that MEN do, nothing more, nothing less, the WOMEN choose which parts to shave and NOT the men (or society), just like wimmens decide what happens to the wombs.

sound good?
\
yes I am in a mood...  no apologies...

RAHHHHHR!

DemonKia -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 10:37:08 PM)

Who knew the leg-shaving thread would turn into the radical-eco-warrior-pinko-commie-lesbo-feminist thread, lol? Er, I guess it's not that terribly surprising . . ..

So, Hiltie, gonna post an illustration of yer proposed Punani-zilla Bush?

& I've been living by your proposed method for most of my adult life, Hiltie, so, I guess I'm there with ya already . . . ..

[:D][:D][:D]

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/7/2009 10:42:03 PM)

You've been living by my proposed method...?

like I failed ta GUESS that??
argggghhhh!

(yes, I'm going over the top Gilbert and Sulliva here, cuz, well, it entertains me)

(well, actually, "hah hah", but unless I spew a bit, it's not as funny).

"Who knew the leg-shaving thread would turn into the radical-eco-warrior-pinko-commie-lesbo-feminist thread"

in other words, every third post I make...?[:o]   [&o]

substeve49 -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/9/2009 1:53:51 PM)

I usually get my whole body shaved, well more like have the hair removed. It feels nice to be smooth but is embarrasing when friends ask what happened to my hairy legs and arms.

absolutely hate it and much prefer "au naturelle"...however, Master feels differently, so yes, she is obligated to shave...for Him.[:)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/9/2009 2:13:39 PM)

Just tell your friends that male models and atheles(?) shave themselves for their appearance.

BailyBoo -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/9/2009 2:14:01 PM)

Frankly, I couldn't give a fuck less who wants me to shave my legs. I see it as yet another way for the Patriarchy to control my existence by attempting to make me feel unattractive so I spend more money on all the things that I need to make me attractive.

bit extreme...isn't it?[sm=dunno.gif]

GoddessSpitfire -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/14/2009 9:01:18 AM)

I dont feel obligated to do it but I do. I hate shaving but love the smoothness so I do it. I dont like all the chemical products used for hair removal so I stick with shaving cream and a razor.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/14/2009 9:03:49 AM)

I notice that still no one has offerec to help me with my waxing fantasy.  Sigh.

RobertCloud -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/16/2009 9:28:01 PM)

Nah... Don't think I will help either... How ever I am looking at getting that "Smooth Away" product for my girl. Has anyone else tried it, how well does it work?

DrkJourney -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/16/2009 10:06:55 PM)

Actually, I could probably shave like once a month, my hair doesn't grow all that quickly (lot of native american in me) and by the time it's time to shave again I forget.

I usually just shaved when I had a "hot" date and thought something might happen that evening...lol   I wear a lot of pants so they are not seen any way.  I hate doing it so I just don't...of course that will change when hubby returns.

ok ok ok....You all know the story that's passed from girlfriend to girlfriend, that on the first date do not shave your legs, that way you are assured nothing "naughty" would happen on that first date.  when my now husband and I agreed to meet face to face, well of course I didn't shave.  I wanted to at least appear like a good girl for one night any way..lol   Of course one thing led to another and...well...I don't think he got rug burn ...didn't see any flames or anything...lol

It was so much fun explaining to him why I didn't shave, actually I doubt the boy would've noticed.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Leg Shaving or whatever... (10/16/2009 10:10:59 PM)

Thank you Drk Journey...
See people... anecdotal evidence of truth behind my theory!
