Why not just get rid of the lobbyists? wouldnt that save a whole lot of money?

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 2:35:27 PM)

Honestly, though, can anyone tell me what good comes from lobbyist? Out of everything that is discussed on these boards, the one... and rare.... partisan view is that they are the leeches of both our economy and our political system. Anyone know why they havent been outlawed yet?

Mercedes Benz dealors love them!

LOL

No Master Ron... i get the gist. My issue with this is that while we are screaming about health care reform, tort reform, business reform, government reform, no one has mentioned even the tiniest hint of lobbying reform. The money insurance companies have poured into preventing the HC bill should be an alarming fact to both parties. Why fight so hard, and spend so much that COULD go towards what its supposed to go towards... namely heath care?

Why arent we seeing more here, and politically, zeroing in on these rodents who scurry about behind the scenes and drain the economy as well as make politics go "their way"?

Tazzy, I love that thinkin! Maybe you could break Obama's record and be nominated for a NOBEL PEACE PRIZE (in economics) in "9 days!"

Wow, this could be great! "Collarme.com the site with 16 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE winners!"

mnottertail -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 2:59:50 PM)

well if you go back to the healtcare thread, lobbying and phantasmagorical bonuses are how they can claim a 3.4% ROI.

They are being protected by the very folks who we want to legislate them out of business, because of the -----------well you know, that they get a big bite of.

popeye

why the dripping sarcasm? im asking because i dont get it. its more productive to answer than to take pot shots. and it wouldnt be a peace prize. maybe a congressional medal of honor or something.

true, the profit margin is decreased greatly after bonues and expences... which i have no doubt include lobbying.

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 3:05:59 PM)

I can see all the cum bay ah people going to foreign countries next summer and some will be beaten and robbed.
They'll be thinking; "But why? I voted for Obama! Don't they understand that!"

mnottertail -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 3:08:32 PM)

why would that logic follow? far as I know the republicans (whom we can assume didn't vote for obama, but we know they are lying based on election results) are the only ones fearing reprisals by death squads.

Ron

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 3:08:42 PM)

Tazzy, I think you understand pretty good!
I'm just in a "giddy" mood because our president won the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE in 12 days! :)

Ron, put down the Jack Daniels, I was talking about them being mugged on foreign vacations, not "death squads!" lol

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama wins Nobel Prize (10/10/2009 3:12:43 PM)

It wasnt in 12 days... gesh... he was nominated in that time... nominations are accepted by members in good standing.. as the link i provided earlier explained. JUST because you are nominated doesnt mean you will win. Do i think he deserved it? No, not yet. But that is my personal opinion, based upon what i see from the US. I dont know how the international community is viewing him, nor do you. His winning may have been based upon things we dont, or cant see. Or it could have been just a plain slap in the face to Bush.

Either way, to blame Obama for this is silly.
