I suspect someone is gonna report that post, and that poster is gonna get a letter from M11 and you are going to have to walk around a bunch of [awaiting approval] for a week or two.

Not me, I won't [&o] .

Exactly YOU do not understand.  I adore my country.  Adore it.  I understand it.  I have spent my life studying my country.  I would do almost anything for it.  The United States of America at one point was the zenith for western civilization.

And people like you, do not deserve the rich bounty of that civilization.  People like you take from your culture, and don't mind tearing it down.  It's amusing to you.  It's not amusing to me.  It's sacred.

I regret spending one second serving when a human being like you exists to make smarmy comments, and when I know you would not life a single finger for this wonderful culture.  I bet you avoid jury duty like the plague.

Unfortunately, reality is, people like you will always exist to take advantage of what others, of principle and dedication, do.

Could you be a little more specific on the "people like you" cause I am thinking you don't know kittin at all. That's a lot of anger aimed at someone who is basically a screen name on the monitor.

Take it from one who knows...or at least has first hand experience.....Mod 11 never sleeps.[:)]

LOL Mike,

another of the largest clubs on the planet, m11 alumni.

(at least) Class of 2007, 2008, 2009 spring, 2009 long summer ban, and we haven't made it to winter quarter as of yet.

Periodically I will encounter a post like this and it fills me with deep disquiet that the authors almost always claim to be vets.

As a vet let me state quite clearly, I have studied this country and its history. I love this nation and the ideals for which it stands and one of those ideals is that all are equal. White, black, brown, male, female, gay, straight, bi, trans, christian, jewish, atheist, immigrant or native born it doesn't matter. I served to protect that ideal as much as any other.

The only people who I truly believe are undeserving of this nation are those who would deny it to others on the basis of how they were born or what they believe.

Yep....in my case at least they were all richly deserved lol,....on one or two occasions I  even felt they were well worth it.

~FR~

It amazes me how the arguments against allowing gays to openly serve in the military echo the arguments of those opposing a desegregated military more than half a century ago. The same arguments about how white soldiers would rebel at being made to serve with colored soldiers (and I use the word deliberately), how you couldn't trust a black soldier to show the same discipline, courage or loyalty as a white soldier were put forth. Fortunately, that sort of bigotry is no longer openly tolerated or systematically condoned. Let us hope that this bigotry is also stamped out.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Dont ask, dont tell changes? (10/11/2009 1:50:33 PM)

When all is said and done the facts are that they had all these arguments as to how changing these laws in Europe would adversely affect the military or the number of people signing up but in reality nothing happened because people generally have other reasons for joining and don't care.

Also those propaganda videos about improving your life by joining the armed forces are so powerful.

I spent 3 years in the Army in the late 70s.  I had homosexuals in my room in the barracks. Two of them.  It was disgusting.  We were all around 20 years old.  There were at least a handful of homosexual women in the companies I was assigned over that

My  mom was in the Air Force.  In the '50s.  And yep, she had some of them dastardly lesbians in her barracks!  A few even hit on her!

She told me about it when I went off to live in a dorm at college.  Her advice was that if anyone hits on you, you just say "No thank you", if you're not interested.

Now, as to the modern day.  Surveys in the DoD show most of the homophobia's in the older members of the service, with the younger folks not caring as much.

Fast Reply -

If the current law is repealed what law or policies will replace it?
What is best for the service men and women who serve America?

Currently the regulations in the UCMJ are what would be used to bash or drum out gays and lesbians, mainly using the outdated sodomy rules. So perhaps a good start would be to either redefine sodomy in the UCMJ or completely do away with the regulation.

That is just for starters.

TheHeretic -> RE: Dont ask, dont tell changes? (10/11/2009 5:10:57 PM)

Kitten, you might just throw out those posts where the military vets get painted with a big brush to be a troll, in which case I'm wasting my time here, but if not, please understand that vets are an incredibly diverse bunch of people, who joined for all sorts of different reasons, and that it's a big enough tent that, just to name a very few, Ken, Ron, and I, can all hang out comfortably in.

The race problems were ultimately resolved (or as resolved as they get) with the principle that we are all green, first.  The sexual orientation thing will probably wind up with the servicemembers coming to grips with us all getting fucked by the civilian oversight.  [:)]

Gee.  That reads like an attack on someone's orientation...

Gee, I thought it was a response to her attacks on someone's orientation.

After all, she said she hated lesbians but would do anything for her country.

Seemed like a logical follow-up question.

You have my sympathy for the 3 years you wasted defending something you don't really believe in.

Here we go again w/ the "Don't Ask Don't Tell," What the Hell ever happened to the "It's Nobody's Damn Buisness Policy???"

Not to sound prude or anything as you all have some really good posts on here!

My personal experance is that some of the BEST damn sex I have ever had was from America's Finest gay men.

Riddle me this... If the United States HATE's gay people so much then why the hell don't they just draft all the queer's into the military so that they may get shot up, blown up or die some miserable death beyond all imagine???

Thanks!

You certainly did post some very insightful material back when you were still in your 40s. I remember it like it was just yesterday.
