Point for Panda on that one [;)]

But as much as I think Rush is the pits...and has spewed comments that showed his true colors, I still think he has a right to buy what he wants.  If its for sale to him, that is.

He's an asshole servant but in this case that is just icing on the case.He and his group will be turned down for that most American of reasons.......good business demands it....its really that simple.
Let me ask you something.....lets suppose the NFL allowed his group to buy a controlling interest in the Rams.....how competitive do you think they will be fielding an all white team......A number of black players have allready gone on record saying they would not under any circumstances play for any teal that had Rush as part of the ownership group.....

He has a right to make an offer ...The NFL has a right to say "no thanks"....aint America a great place.

Servant Rush isn't trying to buy a team....Rush at best would have been a minority partner in a bid to buy a team.Rush ain't got the type of money needed to buy an NFL team.....he's not even close to being that rich.

Unfortunately he is.

You don't own an oceanfront estate in Palm Beach and a Gulfstream jet without being that rich.

Apparently, because there isnt anything to race bait about, Al sharpton has written the NFL commish to ask him to kill rush Limbaugh's attempt to buy part of the Rams.  Im not a fan of either man but let's face it, It's Rush's money, let him spend it as he damn well pleases.

Ya know,.........if I was the NFL commish and I got a "letter", "fax", "phonecall" from "The Reverand" Al Sharpton or,...(ahem) "The Reverand" Jesse Jackson...............

Rule the Rams were appraised at something like 900 million dollars....that's purchasing price. The NFL is not about to let anyone buy a team on a shoestring......NFL ownership is restricted to the richest....not the rich.

I forgot this:

5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

Limbaugh is once again fear mongering and race baiting by associating professional black athletes with criminals and gangmembers. He continues the fear mongering association of good, decent, hard working African Americans as criminals.

Damn Mike! I never thought I'd see it, a screaming liberal defending the rich!
Next thing you know you'll be telling us that you won the Nobel Peace Prize!

Who's defending the rich(or attacking them for that matter)just stating fact....Rush is entertainer rich.....not NFL owner rich....a difference.A BIG difference

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Sharpton has asked the NFL to nix Limbaugh's purchase of the Rams (10/12/2009 1:24:29 PM)

He'll probably lose interest as soon as someone explains to him that he doesn't actually get to own the players.

Iwould challenge anyone out there to find one instance where Rush acted in a racist manner.

But, Serv, racism is in the eye of the beholder.  Rush Limbaugh breathing in the morning is a racist act to those who wake up looking to be offended.  He's an incredibly wealthy, self-made, white guy.

Personally, I think Rush should hire a lawyer to sue Sharpton's pants off for meddling in his business affairs.

Hey Popeye who says the rich are my enemy....hell I buy MegaMillions tickets every week trying to join their club.....and by the way I don't actually see myself as a "screaming liberal".....just a compassionate warm hearted human being who has developed the ability to see things from the other guys point of view[:)]

Mike, he's been on the air since 1988.  These are just his last two contracts.

And keep in mind "money makes money".  So his total income includes substantial investments not reflected in his salary.

In July 2008, the New York and Los Angeles Times gave us a glimpse at the richness of Rush. The reports claimed that from 2001 to 2009 an eight year radio contract paid Rush Limbaugh a total of $285 million. The new contract, 2009 to 2016, is reportedly a staggering $400 million. For that report, insider Michael Harrison called Limbaugh the “best talent on the air in modern broadcasting”.
(What is Rush Limbaugh's Net Worth?)

So pay no attention to what the self made rich white guy says into a radio mike day after day....cool.

Rule...i'm not disputing he's rich...hell he can buy and sell me a million times over.In this case though he is merely a minority partner in a bid to buy a majority stake in the Rams. And I don't beleive that's an accident he is rich....just not Leon Hess rich or Woody Johnson rich.

You mean like Bill Maher?

Who's Bill Maher?
No, I mean like the guy in the cowboy hat about 2 years ago.

So explain to me the difference between what happened to Maher and what happened to Imus.

One liberal, losing his show because of a conservative outcry over his comments.

One conservative, who took a lot of flack from liberals over his comments, but retained his job.

It would seem to argue against your point.

servantforuse -> RE: Sharpton has asked the NFL to nix Limbaugh's purchase of the Rams (10/12/2009 1:47:13 PM)

It is not just 'the NFL' who decides who can own a team. It is also up to the other 31 team owners. You guys on the left worry about the goofiest stuff. Why would you even care who buys anything ? If he buys the Rams, don't watch them play. A 400 million dollar contract. Thats not super rich? I would say it's pretty damm close.
