You would be closer if you had said

The shot was first and foremost at the media by using McNabb and his perceived abilities.

quote:

not A quarterback but specifically a black quarterback

Race played a big issue in the shot.  Therefor... racist.

Hate to tell you this tazzy but the mere mention of race...especially in the context of how it was used here...does not make someone a racist.

Racist:  McNabb is such a great quarterback because he is black and well...you KNOW them black folks are more athletic than white boys.

Non-racist:  The media wants McNabb to succeed because they desperately need a black quarterback to succeed.  Therefore, they give him all the credit for what the team has done rather than to the defense which is what has really carried the Eagles.

If just mentioning race makes someone racist then tazzy's a racist too, right along with everyone who has participated in this thread in a meaningful way.

Is McNabb an African American?…If so and the media was proclaiming his accomplishments as an African American quarterback…and if his accomplishments were less then comparable quarterbacks of the past at that time in their careers…then is it racist to point that out?

Certainly in bad taste and uncalled for but something is only racist if it is not true.

To me this is the bottom line on this particular comment…I surely don’t like the man or his politics and especially his inflammatory rhetoric but fair is fair.
