They probably gave it to him because he escalated the war in Afghanistan and he has ordered the Pentagon to rush the building of the next generation of bunker busting super bombs in anticipation of war with Iran.

Peace through strength man.

You know?

Seems quite ridiculous to me, that Obama received such a prize. They can't be serious that they could find no other human on this whole planet that did more than jabber jaw about peace.

Well, I know a guy that gave up his nice 200K job to help school children in 3rd world countries.

I know a lady that raised her 3 kids and still was able and willing to take in a paralyzed orphan in.

In any case, I assure you there are thousands that have done more, while the second case isn't world peace, she'd still be more qualified, as it required personal sacrifice.

I can't believe anyone would accept he is qualified at this stage of the presidency for such an award.

Yes, they should be awarding prizes to people who actually *do* things not just *talk.*
And is there any "requirement" that the awardees have to be "famous?"
How about people who donate years of their lives to homeless shelters or other charities?
I don't think you should give a person an "award" just because they're on t.v. all the time.

I haven't read the other thread either about this but I remember when Jimmy Carter received it also. Granted, it was after he was out of office by many years but he deserved it. Obama does too as just his being elected to office I think has helped foster a feeling of better will between the U.S. and other parts of the world in spirit at least...thus a more peaceful feeling...sometimes things are not so tangible.

Ha! lol, I can see in 2012 when Obama gets out of office; "Hey Mr Vice President, you need a Nobel Peace Prize trophy?" "No problem I got six of 'em!"

Evening,

I know I feel much safer since the new president took office.  His excellent speeches and acts of kindness have made the world act much differently towards us.  I mean lets just look at Asia...  North Korea is testing nukes, firing off missiles at will, cancelling a 50+year old armistice, shipping who knows what to who knows where and threatening all out war if they are stopped to be searched.  Ah it is so much more peaceful.

At least Hugo Chavez likes us now...

I wish you well,
Thadius

Find all the answers to your problem here: "Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize.

I was wondering why I was getting an eerie sense of deja vu.

It's not called a news cycle for nothing, alas  .

I also feel the love from our enemies.I feel much better that Iran will soon have a nuke, and are basically giving the finger to the Obama administration.

All this was going on all the while Bush was president too...I think a lot of ultra-conservatives and ultra-liberals too have what you call "selective memory"..heck i have voted Republican a few times myself too..I am pretty much middle of the road.
