Sanity -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 2:27:48 PM)

Okay tazzy, you and Panda have it your way. Everything that Congress is doing is all them damn Republican's fault... 'cause them damn Republicans have the Dems backed into a corner.

Aint no spin there!

LOL.. Honey.. who are you fooling? No one is spinning anything. YOu have your head shoved so far up your ass, you cant even see the light of day.

What just passed the committee is a watered down version.. extremely watered. Now the two proposals have to go to battle. It will be incredible to watch the squealing of the insurance companies and lobbiests... yeah... they all LOVE republicans right now...when the two versions come out as one.

I posted a list of the Insurance companies demands, and just who proposed each one. As usual, you didnt bother to look, else you wouldnt be slinging the bs you are right now.

Go look for it, or keep your head buried. The fall out from all of this will be felt next year. I hope your ready.

ROFL...

According to you, Sanity... Bush is God resurrected... a Republican Congress can do no wrong... and Rush and Beck are the appostles who can speak nothing but truth and love.

And you say we have a spin????

When you're done arguing against your straw man, maybe we can get back on topic? [;)]

Google "straw man argument" Panda, and read up on the term.

Presenting and refuting a weakened form of an opponent's argument can be a part of a valid argument. For example, one can argue that the opposing position implies that at least one other statement - being presumably easier to refute than the original position - must be true. If one refutes this weaker proposition, the refutation is valid and does not fit the above definition of a "straw man" argument.

well, you are hoisted on your own petard.

precisely where did the argument 'Everything that Congress is doing is all them damn Republican's fault.' occur?

You gotta do more than skim, start thinking, my friend.

You missed seeing the post in which Panda was directly blaming Republicans for a bill that is entirely the doing of the Democrats?

Here's his quote:

quote:

Well, we'll see. It's entirely possible that the most partisan warfare is already behind us, now that the "health care" industry and their republican lapdogs have basically won the battle - I mean, the insurance and pharm companies wrote the bill, for all practical purposes.

mnottertail -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 2:55:20 PM)

nope, invalid. Nowhere there in the actual quote did he diectly blame republicans for writing the bill, nor would the fact that they obstructed it and (likely) joined forces with their lobbyist friends and are big supporters of insurance companies (as on the whole insurance companies support them) constitute a necessary and sufficent condition for you to charactarize that as everything,k let alone include tazzy in on your (at the very least) begging the question.

Professor Fallacy

Sanity -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 3:02:59 PM)

Back on topic, the Democrats wrote and are pushing this horrible, horrible bill which, if it passes, you will obtain insurance or you will forfeit a very large fine to the IRS or you will go to jail.

Its a fat cat lobbyists wet dream.

Can we at least agree on that much?

Or would you like to try for another Hail Mary derail... [:D]

Yup, we agree on that wholeheartedly, and it will not pass. This is much ado about nothing, it is irreconcilable. Thats my take at least.

Ron

tazzygirl -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 3:16:41 PM)

Mine as well, Master Ron... with an exception. The bill that passed today is not the final bill. The other has still inclusions of the original bill. The two will have to go to special committee to be reconciled. I dont envision that final bill detailing a jail sentence... unless someone can afford that insurance and not have to worry about.. say... heating or groceries.

Some need to save the champagne until the final vote. I did keep telling these guys that it wasnt just that easy to ram a bill through Congress.

Maybe now they realize.

mnottertail -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 3:25:16 PM)

Ja tazzy,

Senators can do some heavy handed shit, congressmen gotta actually gotta go see people, up close and personal mostly.

What we got here is the political argument:

The Senate passed a health bill.
The Congress passed a health bill.

Election comes. working on a bill for ya folks, workin on a bill.

no reconciliation since it will be referred and re-referred in committee with Reid and I don't see anyone in the leadership of either house getting up the ass to say, theres your public option, strike this fine levy and fuck 'em......send it to the president.

Mid term elections come........

Then and only then (and only MAYBE then) if there is a democratic mandate will you see healthcare reform bills.

Senator Foghorn Leghorn

tazzygirl -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 3:38:30 PM)

~~Votes for Leghorn for President~~

MarsBonfire -> RE: Senate committee approves health care plan (10/13/2009 8:22:27 PM)

Considering the majority of the American voting populace is behind this reform, I don't see any way the Dems can lose. Even if the GOP manages to stop any bill from getitng passed, then the Dems have a lever in the midterms: "we tried to get you health care reform, but the republicans pissed on the effort." If something does get passed, the Dems say they managed to get at least a step toward a public option made... again they win.

Meanwhile, the GOP continues to  purge the moderates in their ranks, and scream at the top of their lungs about "death panels" , birth certificates, Kenyan citizenship, Socialisim, etc., etc..  Until this point, were less than 20% of those polled would even ADMIT that they were members of the republican party, much less vote for the loons.

Please, do keep raving to yourselves, Insanity and Rottertail... keep up with the snide, high school level, third rate "I know you are, but what am I" logic and BS statements... We all need the reinforcement... you guys are dinosaurs, trapped in the tar pit, and are slowly being sucked down. The bleating is perfectly natural for a political species that smells it's own extinction coming for it.

They seem pretty upset by what you say they wrote:

Dems scramble after warning from health insurers

WASHINGTON – Insurance companies aren't playing nice any more. Their dire message that health care legislation will drive up premiums for people who already have coverage comes as a warning shot at a crucial point in the debate, and threatens President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.

Democrats and their allies scrambled on Monday to knock down a new industry-funded study forecasting that Senate legislation, over time, will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a typical policy.

Interesting argument.

You've claimed you don't want a public option because you are all tingly thrilled with your private insurance and that a public option will eventually make it impossible for you to have that.

Yet, you now are claiming that the lobbyists for the private insurers you are so happy with are trying to encourage a "horrible, horrible bill".
