I know this is a BDSM forum, but I seriously did not expect to get hot and bothered by a sewing machine thread. First it reminded me of The English Patient, where Ralph Fiennes rips the linen shirt off of Kristen Scott Thomas in a pre-coital moment, then the next scene shows him mending the shirt with needle and thread. (Sigh.) Then I remembered how much I loved mending shirts for my drunken lout ex who was constantly getting rips and losing buttons on his assorted "that's my favorite!" shirts. And then someone brought up chain mail. {fans self}

Well Delightfull Devolish Demonic Kia  I'll come clean for YOU...  SMOKEJUMPERS!..  They fix parachutes and fabricate their own equipment on these delightful machines.  We had one when I was down in South Zone.  If I'd only know about...  Well...  I would have paid attention!...  Still, you can teach an old 'shot new tricks.

I will be teaching the gentleman who has the honor of becoming mine how to sew, if he doesn't know already. I am redoing my wardrobe, mostly in linen and wool, and I can definitely use another set of hands at it.

We had a really great time sewing our costumes!  Unfortunately, my Lady's costume did not turn out as wonderfully as mine did, and she had a very large Dom hug her so hard that all the boning tore through her bodice...so unfortunately we did not get good pictures of her.  Our first sewing attempt and her costume was much more complex.

The next day however, we went to another party and got some nice shots of my costume and of the two of us!  So here are a few and I have posted the rest on my profile, so PERV ME and sew sew sew yourself!

Everything you see becomes potential fabric, nothing is safe from being "improved" or altered or even taken completely apart for it's pattern. Whereas before, you could go shop and come home with someting fun to wear, now you will avoid buying because "I can make that" or you will buy something else to be taken apart for fabric.... or you buy a peice of fabric because it's SO amazing and  you'll figure out what to make from it later, but then can't cut it because, well, what if you think of something better to make after you've used it?
Please, people, someone has to warn you about the addicive nature of this problem.

I'm already like this about everything mechanical. As part of that, I acquired a 1950's-vintage Singer 15-91 machine, and a 1930's-vintage Singer 99, on the idea that eventually I should learn to make leather gear using techniques other than riveting. Not much learning yet, but they do look very impressive sitting on the desk.

What a hoot!! I came to the message boards looking for interesting topics which would appeal to a submissive sissy such as myself - and, wow...sewing !

Angel, you are soooooooo right about the addictive nature of sewing. I began many years ago (the only guy in an adult ed sewing class...that was fun) but about 3 years ago, when I retired, I became much more serious. I do admit that most of what I sew is for me (skirts, dresses, lingerie, etc.), but I have sewn 2 skirts for my grand-daughter, a cute dress for my niece's American Girl doll and one skirt for my wife. She wanted something specifically to help hide her tummy bulge and hips but she doesn't wear skirts often and I don't sew pants. The guest room is now my sewing room and I have purchased a wonderful, quality Bernina sewing machine, a serger, sewing and cutting tables, dress form, etc, etc.

Jennifer
