Something I actually agree with Obama on. There is no sense in prosecuting people who are following the laws of their state and using marijuana for legitimate medicinal purposes. Holder is even acting responsibly so far as I'm concerned in admonishing people that the DOJ will aggressively investigate and prosecute anyone found to be abusing these state statutes. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091019/ap_on_re_us/us_medical_marijuana

Back on topic, in high school i did a buncha research and essays on the topic of pot (because i knew teach wouldn't like it lol) but always got high marks and learned a lot, pot should always be the preferred intoxicant vs. alcohol. Has anybody here ever heard of someone dieing from a pot overdose? Neither have i, and i've been around a long long time...like for-evah ya know?

We take "drugs" for medicinal reasons in order to maintain/improve our health. Have you ever had a serious injury or surgery? If so, the pain killer you took was probably a derivative of opium...one of the most widely abused drugs out there. gasp You took drugs for fucks sake!! Marijuana is one hell of a medication. It is legal in quite a few states in pill form and should be in all states. It is one of the best pain killers out there. It stimulates the appetite when given to chemo patients. It eases the pressure of glaucoma. And it is far less addictive then other pain killers. My feeling...if marijuana helps, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good, waste of time and money to prosecute them federally for something that isn't a crime in their jurisdiction. I just wish it wasn't a crime for my mom when she was dying of cancer. It wouldn't have saved her, but it would have made her a little more comfy and had her eating a little bit. I thought about just taking the fine and jail time to sneak her a little dime bag or something...
