ORIGINAL: Slipstreme For me I don't care much for the terms Master and Guide being used to mean the same thing. They aren't. Mentor, and Guide perhaps. I have a Mentor. I do not, nor do I want to, have a Master, unless the person in question is a martial arts instructor. Master: someone who is in control of another's life. They may not be perfect, and may not make a good Master, but are a Master anyway. It is preferred these people are in control of themselves first, which is why I am not a Master. I need to fix the problems in my life before I take the responsibility of another's. Guide/Mentor: someone who can teach, enjoys teaching and seeing his/her students succeed. A Master can also be a Mentor, and many are, especially in regards to their own submissives. However someone learning the art of safe dungeon play under a Mentor for the purpose of being a safe sadist (hey sounds like me) doesn't really have a Master per se as there is no submission involved on the part of the student. Leader: someone with authority over a group of people. Most of these in politics are also a pain in the ass. I really fail to understand your problem in using Master and Guide. I can only guess that you don't really have an understanding of it. Still each to his/her own and I respect your views.. Ok: - Leader, leads others by example. Byhis/her actions shall he/she be known within a community
- Guide/Mentor helps some one achieve a preset goal and is able to guide the person when they need some direction. In other words the Guide/mentor is as much a Coach as anything else (Ask any professional Counsellor and they will tell you that this is 75% of their work with clients).
- Master, Not only owns a slave but is responsible for her training, welfare disclipline and safety. He is also her coach/guide/mentor. In many cases he is and should be a leader for her and others includig those new to the lifestyle or in the local community.
I see all these as not just lables but areas of Duty and Responsibility... Slipstreme, away from the Lifestyle, and in a Lodge, those duties and rersponsibilities are similar too. The only differencs are that no one os owned and there is a Master of Masters (Grand Master) of the Lodge.. he is where the buck stops. he shouldere the full weight of the responsibility forthe entire membership and their actions.. Not an easy job and not one to be taken lightly of this I can assure you from personal knowledge.
