I met someone here on CM one time before my Master and I met each other. He found a partner, and I figured that was the end of it, and exchanged the occasional casual e-mail. Once my Master and I got involved, he sent me a message that was out of line, I told him to stop, and blocked him. Since then, he's been popping up once a month or so with a new profile, trying to make me pity him. It has been escalating, but not outright threats or vulgar language, so I'm not sure how/if to report him, but it's making me very uncomfortable. I discussed the situation with my Master (the second e-mail of this nature was just before I became his), and he has ordered me to end contact. I've passed that on to the person in question, telling him not to contact me, before blocking that profile. Since then, he's made up other names, and tracked me down on Fetlife as well, whining and complaining about my Master and me being so mean to him. I haven't insulted him, or done anything to him, I just don't feel comfortable or safe in talking with him, even when he wanted to "just be friends." In his latest one this morning, with yet another name, he claimed to be "leaving the site" and went off again. I'm really getting concerned about his obsession with me, and I ceratinly don't trust that he'll actually stay away and leave me alone. Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation?

OK, I know, pain in the ass, but before you open any email.........

search out the profile (use only part of the name so it dont show up in the searching me)
if it is no profile, or it is the shitbird, delete unread.

if he keeps some information the same, like anything you can set mail controls for......

and really, if you don't know the name, why even bother, are you giving out something that would make boys wanna write you anyhow? maybe you just have to be not so friendly.

I dunno, nobody stalks me but nigerians, and one other girl or so.

I've never dealt with such childish obsessions personally since the 8th grade. For some reason I was the center of the universe for 3 different girls, one of whom I was dating, the other was dating someone else and the third was just plain weird. She would call constantly trying to get my attention, when she saw me she would flirt and rub herself against me, when I told her to leave me alone she never listened and acted like I was being the asshole in the conversation and not her. It wasn't very pleasant but she eventually got the hint and F'd off. I'm personally not very well versed in the ways of the Administration, but I'm pretty sure it is possible to have his Ip banned so he can't contact you on CM and notifying Fet Life could likely lead to the same.

If I were to get something like that I would reply in exactly the opposite way they would expect. Usually that is simply deleting and forgetting.

CM does have a policy against harassment.
Tell him to stop emailing you and if he persists report him.

And/or do what Ron suggests: check out the profile first and if it seems fishy, delete it unread and block him.

Yeah, & you may wanna save copies of the cmails to your off-site email address, & if this continues it might be worth your while to (a) file a police report (printouts of the messages would be useful for that, maybe) & / or (b) do a little research on your legal & etc options about being stalked. In this day & age I'm betting there's oodles of stuff online about what to do about stalkers, it's hardly an uncommon occurrence . . . . . .

My thoughts are with you, Anda. I think you have a right to be reasonably concerned & to arm yourself with further knowledge . . . .

Talk to only people who post.  If they do not post then dont open the email.

Good point, subtle is kinda a sneaky motherfucktress, and she posts out here, I know if I get a mail from her in my inbox, it ain't gonna be good news of any kind.

The comment about the eighth grade was a bit much.  I was thinking more like kindergarten.  [8D]

If the guy is using multiple screen names to contact you, just delete it when you know it's him.  Don't answer it and don't waste your time on it.  Sooner or later, he'll get the hint.

Had someone who was creating a ruckus on the forums cmail me raving.  I suggested he fuck off and blocked him.  He created a female profile (Amazing similarity in gait of word usage to his) from the same country.  I suggested 'she' fuck off and blocked 'her'.  < shrug >

If you are on dialup (k k it's getting outdated but I'm sure there're some who still have it) you could be located in Bill Gates office..on a dial-up computer..and the IP would tell everybody you were located in the jungles of africa.
IP is useless. Sure the owners of this site has an IP of every single person that signs in..but really, it's not like you are going to find somebody's home address through it unless you're da police with a court order n all that shit.
The regular user cannot get the other persons IP through a message on CM.

Besides, I would assume that other's computers, are similar to mine in that it changes IP addresses at whim..........all by itself.
