Regardless of where you stand on the abortion issue, this is just wrong.

I agree.

LadyPact -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 10:27:07 AM)

This is nothing more than putting more emotional pressure on those who are going through this procedure.  Why on earth add more torment to what is already such a difficult choice?

OrionTheWolf -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 10:56:57 AM)

Probably because they have never been in the position of the female that had the procedure, or those that supported them and were emotionally involved in it.

I want a website for men that get prescribed Viagra.

slut!

sirsholly -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 10:59:42 AM)

this is a HIPPA violation...it HAS to be!!!

DarkSteven -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 11:40:52 AM)

I don't think that the actual intended effect is to get the info.  I think it's to drive doctors away from performing abortions.

The article says that there are penalties for not providing the information.  But it doesn't mention what the penalties are for providing the WRONG information.  If I were a doctor in OK, I'd have an inexplicable computer glitch that entered the wrong data that somehow matched the wives of cosponsors Lamb and Sullivan.  And claim HIPPA confidentiality when they demanded to see the original records.

I want a homepage that discusses the specific reasons why Rush Limbaugh needed Viagra for a trip to the Dominican Republic.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0706062rush1.html

Its the only means left available to him to make others think he's an upstanding member of the media?

Rather than just a dick?

E

Given that people in the Dominican Republic are of African descent, and Rush has a seeming preoccupation with being "bent over and taken" by black men, it just seemed a bit coincidental.....

CalifChick -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 12:12:19 PM)

Since Roe v. Wade was not for the right to abortion, but for the right to PRIVACY, I cannot see how this would stand up to the first challenge to it in court.  And I cannot see how HIPAA would not quash it either.

Ohhhh, there that's better.

Just found my glasses.

I kept asking myself,

"When did this turn into a fat thread?"

tazzygirl -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 3:11:22 PM)

Do you have an issue with abortion, chia?

slvemike4u -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 3:18:16 PM)

If I might take a shot at that Tazzy....Chia has an issue with irreverance...he has never met a subject on which he will not go for the cheap and easy laugh.
But therein lies his charm....nothing is sacred to The Chia

And in a quaint but fun filled afternoon, the gang reminisced about the
Weekend Update Saturday Night Live parody of Point/Counterpoint.

"Jane, you ignorant slut."

Well, I suppose I could come on and project something profound all fo fo fo, like,

"This is one of the most stupid, moronic, idiotic miscarriages of law to hit the books."

Well, duh.

Cue the banjos.

I'm glad it appears that abortion is suitable material for humour like this, there isnt enough joy in the world after all.

Especially at an abortion clinic.

Not to worry though, the pain fades after the first forty or so years I understand.

tazzygirl -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 5:17:43 PM)

my feelings exactly, Ellen

while i enjoy chia's rather irrelevant take on things, somethings the subject matter requires a more somber tone.

servantforuse -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 5:18:11 PM)

If the ' government option ' becomes law, federal bureaucrats will know of every procedure that you plan to have or have had. This isn't much different in my mind. I don't like it either way, but the hand writing is on the wall for all of us.

tazzygirl -> RE: So much for Dr-patient confidentiality (10/24/2009 5:20:16 PM)

You think it already isnt?

By what we are lead to believe, medicaid, medicare, tricare... all are government opperated.  who is to say they dont already have over half the population in their data banks?
