Further, if you don't set the structure, the dog will...and isn't capable of doing so properly in a human world.

And look, ya gotta understand....it's a DOG. They act like dogs. They're supposed to do so.

impish, yes that helps, and I've been so good about feeding her properly and I layed down the law to  her grandparents to not feed her when she begs, cause she begs an they think it's cute.

I'm really proud of myself despite how poorly it sounds that I've cared for her lately because in the last week I've walked her a lot played with her in the yard, and I've controlled her food.

It's a small thing to some, but I'm very apathetic about stuff and my determination lately makes me proud.

Holly we used to walk her but it was sporadic, so I mean I only just started doing it very often and trying to do it every day this week.

I should of clarified that.

I'm not her primary parent, daddy is but I'm free more often* ok all day* so I am trying to learn disipline in helping her and in helping me, since you know from the past posts I made  I am really apathetic about things and let them slide, but I'm trying to learn better.

Maybe this might help.. Think of your dog as your submissive. You need to establish rules and boundaries otherwise the relationship fails and essentially the dog tops from the bottom. You need to be strict and firm. That dog depends on you for survival. You can either help the dog by controlling their food and exercise or you can hurt the dog.

No sirrrrrre there'd not* huge grin* She's been fixed for many many years because her original mom, my bf's mother, got her from the pound, and the dog next door is a boy I believe, but she thinks of him as a buddy and cries for him to come run fence with her:)

Okay you can get this info from your vet, but I'll just tell you this.......

Things like hot dogs, peanut butter and human food items high in fat can cause major intestinal problems for your dog. I know they say you can give your dog peanut butter as a treat for a kong etc.. and you can in small amounts and not all the time.

Garlic, onions, grapes...... Are poisonous to your dog. These items can cause your dogs kidney's and liver to fail.

I feed my dogs twice a day. I split their total daily allotted amount of food so they get 1/2 cup in the morning and 1 and cup in the evening. They eat at 8 am and 8 pm. They know when it's time to eat and if I fall off schedule they make sure I know it.

Yup, I never was tense before till she almost attacked a dog in the park when her harness broke and she got loose, and now I am always like uh Ginger are you going to behave if another dotg comes around us or near her.

She does extreamlly w ell sometimes if SHE wants to approach THEM< but then out of the clear blue she'll snap at them or snarl and I am like oh no not again. not out loud  but mentally.

She was never socialized I don't believe I don't know her entire history. I do know that for many many years like 5 plus it was just her and her mom and she never got out of the house cause her mom wasn't capable of taking Ginger out.  So now she's super stranger agressive and shy,  because strangers are not a normal occurance, and I really do n't have that many people to come around and be introduced being it's just me and daddy and I don't have real life friends, and I am so worried she's gonna bite someone if I take her out in public to meet new people.

I tell people automatically if she's around please do not approach the dog until I tell you it's ok to, she's skittish, and it works but then most are afraid to touch her or be near here, and one time one doofus said it's ok if she bites me i'll punch her I'm not afraid to get bit.

If we start taking her out regularly and having safe people( people who won't over react if she shows fear) talk to her, regularly maybe we won't have to fear her out in public, because we'll have worked with her and trained her to be utterly cool..

Incidentally there's less agression if Daddy has her than I do, I guess she feels safer. I have noticed a definite trend that if you are daddy and you're introducing her to a stranger she'll accept them much faster than if I Mommy introduce them. WE can do so much more when he's in charge than when I am in that regard. We can even walk her and she behaved better for him, because he's established himself as the one to trust and obey as alpha.

It's not uncommon. If a dog isn't socialized on a regular basis they can easily become other dog aggressive. Another thing is too is that you probably unbeknownst to you tense up around other dogs for fear she'll attack. Every dog trainer I have ever worked with states this is a problem. I have a little australian shepherd who was dog aggressive and if I don't take him out around other dogs for training he still gets that way from time to time. You can train them (in small steps) so that they aren't, but it's a constant effort. It's taken me two years to trust him off leash around other dogs we don't know. Even now if a dog off leash rushes us as we are walking he will try to attack. If they approach slowly then it's all good. If he's off leash he doesn't much care either way. My dogs are trained so that I can simply take a book out into the yard and read and they will play, chase squirrels whatever as long as I go with them. For instance this morning I went and raked leaves while they chased each other around the yard and jumped through my pile of leaves. I also have this huge hard plastic ball, which one of them has learned to herd around the yard.. I.e she pushes it around with her nose. Not only is it physical exercise, but it's mentally exhausting for her too. It works similar to a treat ball. They have to figure out how to get the treat.. she has to figure out how to move the ball around the yard.

There's a pattern here. Constant training for you and the dog.

Yup. I never give her garlic or onions or grapes or chocolate or anything I know is toxic and if I am ever concerned about it not being ok for her to eat I call the vet or I don't give it to her period.

One time a neighbor was feeding her little tidbits, and we didn't know it but when we found out we were ok with it cause it was harmless, but  one time, he had this huge wad of chicken that was rotten and he didn't see the harm in feeding it to her  I don't know why not since it was bone white and STUNK BADLY. thank god we saw it before she did because she may have eaten the w hole thing raw, and in a heart beat, And we finally had to tell him please don't feed our dog.

Not to mention chocolate which can be LETHAL especially for small dogs

I'm aware. I not only have my own dogs, but train and work with rescued "high risk" dogs on a pretty regular basis.

I knew I liked you from the moment I read your post about your visit to the Humane Society!

I shouldn't tell you this you'll all think I am an idiot or she's a monster or something but Ginger is other dog agressive, She'll attack any other dog that she see;s or is in her property You can't trust her around other animals that she doesn't know are not ok to be on her property, and even then she may still start shit with them:(

You really, really need to watch the Dog Whisperer. You're in California. Maybe you can even make an appointment with Cesar Millan.

But you really, really need to educate yourself about dogs and a kink forum ain't exactly the best place to do that.

I stand corrected. Perhaps a kink forum is exactly where you get best education in Dog training!

I'd have more dogs if there weren't a city ordinance. I love animals I should have been a vet except I have major issues with putting a dog to sleep unless it's 100 percent needed. There is a special place in my heart for those that have been abandoned, abused, and starved.

Once you leave that class you will have to constantly enforce what was learned in that class. Additional to that do your research on the trainer. There are good trainers who know what they are doing and bad trainers who will teach you wrong.

imp our vet recomended them, so they must be fairly good, but yeah I'll research, and what she told me today matches what every one else said about being her alpha and if you're not the boss she will be and how to make her behave herself eventually.
