i JUST HEARD on Good Morning America about happened on Oct 24 at Richmond High School, California. They said this girl was gang raped and beatened for over 2 hours and a possible dozen kids observing or walking by and some even cheering and taking photos on their cells outside a homecoming dance. You know i am as much if not more disgusted and horrified with the kids watching as the rapists. I guess morbidly the pics that have been taken can be used to identify people involved but damn. Police believe as many as five boys joined in the gang rape, which lasted more than two hours. As word spread of the attack, other kids arrived to watch. As many as 12-15 others stood around as the girl was being assaulted. No one called police. Police only arrived around midnight after getting a call from someone who'd overheard other people "reminiscing about the incident," Lt. Mark Gagan. The girl was found unconscious and "brutally assaulted" under a bench. She was flown to a hospital in critical condition, but has since stabilized. Yes for those that it matters to, there was drinking involved. Is this kind of thing so "no big deal" or even "cool" that our kids don't see the horror of it when they see it in front of them? angel

Kitty Genovese's murder was overheard by dozens of her neighbors in the apartment building. Some watched it out their windows and nobody called the police. That was in about 1958 so nothing new here. I'm not saying this is right, I am saying it is not new.

Animals like these should be caged for life and never let out. Those who watched and did nothing should be drugged and tossed into that cage for a 2 hour ordeal like that poor girl endured.

There was a movie called The Accused in which Jodie Foster played a rape victim to Kelly McGinnis' lawyer role. In it, the lawyer went after the witnesses who cheered on the rape and ultimately won convictions. The Wiki blurb on Cheryl_Araujo, whose case the movie was based on, gives no indication whether the witnesses were prosecuted or not, but hints against it.

I went to the link and read the story. Underneath it where 75 comments. So I suppose if you want to read the rest of the story, read the idiotic comments. Here's the comment I left. All I can say is thank god this girl was out cold. As a parent I don't know if I would try to shield her from the truth about what took place. I would be devastated for her. No matter her parents financial circumstance, I hope she gets a victims rights lawyer, and receives enough money for private schooling far far away. That is the least we can all pitch in and do for her. I seriously hope her wounds can be healed as well, both body and mind. I guess now we say, thank god she survived. And I for one, will let the legal system do what it can. I'm tempted to find out the hospital and send flowers and a card. To the entire family.

They can also lose their cell phone access if those pics were found to have been sent to someone else. Want to kill a teen? take away the technology. Then there may be cases if these pics are also found on personal computers. now we have child pornography, since this was a minor. The waters are getting murky. And i think the sharks are wanting blood over this one.

And to add insult to injury, dig up the comments of the school officials; they are more interested in covering thier asses than showing much concern for the victim.

According to the story, the authorities are looking into charging the on-lookers with aiding and abetting but they will have to prove that those charged with such actually facilitated or goaded the assailants. It is not a crime to not report a crime you witness unless the victim is under 14.

Her boyfriend had murdered someone and told her about it. She thought he was joking. He wasn't. She didn't report it.

Tho- in this case it seems a regional demention is in it. I mean with those Californians it is fun to have a shooting at a graduation. cheap thrills.
