‘V’ Sci-Fi Star Compares Journalist-Mouthpiece for Evil Aliens to Anderson Cooper

Scott Wolf, the star of a new show about evil aliens who use superficial journalists to take over the planet, appeared on Monday’s Good Morning America and compared his "morally compromised" character to real-life CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. The ‘V’ star asserted his character doesn’t have much "gravitas" and added, "He's more of Anderson Cooper-y."

In the program, which premiered November 3 on ABC, Wolf’s fictional reporter scores an exclusive interview with the lead alien, who is secretly plotting to take over the planet. She instructs him, "Just be sure not to ask anything that would paint us in a negative light." After he explains journalists must ask tough questions, "Anna" delivers this punch line: "That was not my understanding."

Under the threat of losing such a high-profile interview, "Chad Decker" backpedals and promises to be "fair." The scene, which some conservatives might think reflects coverage the Obama administration received, continued. The alien leader lectured, "You'll need to be more than fair if you want to proceed...We can't be seen in a negative light."

Just think what they'd be saying about it if McCain had won back in January...

Dear Mistress BSB,
Thank You, Ma'am.  You just made me blush.  [:)]

Hummm... the "V"s are actually Obama analogs, eh? So I guess in future episodes, they'll stem our teetering on the cliff of a global Great Depression, end one useless war, work to fight the one that should have been our focus all along, restore the US Constitution to it's foundation of habeus corpus, end torture, and work at placing illegally detained POW's into the American judicial system, while closing the unconstitutional gulags that were created to house them?

HatesParisHilton -> RE: 'V' aims at Obamamania (11/6/2009 7:58:03 PM)

yeah, Sanity never saw the actual show.

oh well, too bad.

meanwhile, in te parallel world of sci-fi classic remakes and political statements made by these remakes...

Hey, Sanity, what did you think about the remake of Battlestar Galactica?  with the main characters (presumably "American") surrounded by such 1950's Russian-style technology?

didja just LOVE it, or hate it?

MarsBonfire -> RE: 'V' aims at Obamamania (11/7/2009 11:39:23 AM)

Speaking of BSG, I found it interesting that the whole "alge planet" colony story arc was basically an alegory to our invasion of Iraq... except we, the Americans, were being cast as the Cylons... (a high tech, wealthy civilization coming in to dominate another) and we weren't looking very civilized when viewed through the "distancing effect" of science fiction.

But then, they were under the command of Bush/Cable. Luckily, as the series wore on, the insane leaders of the Cylons were ousted. Let's hope now, with Obama, a balance can be restored, and the violence quelled.

...Welcome to ABC's "V," the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it's also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president's supporters and delight his detractors.

That chick is fine.

Like someone already mentioned....  V has nothing to do with Obama or ABC.  The original series, which was much better(same name) aired in the 80s. The plot existed long before Obama and TV.

Some invisible dude in the sky disguised himself as his own son, while remaining as himself in the clouds, then came to earth as a human to mingle with us.

I can't figure out why anyone would watch crap like "V" in the first place.  It sucked the first time when it was about Reagan and his policies.

Actually it was inspired by a 1935 novel and ended up as a Nazi allegory. :p

It reflected the Nazi persecution of the Jews, the Swastika, the "friends of the Visitors" were the "Hitler Youth", Visitor broadcasts mimiced Nazi propoganda...etc.

And what is most telling is how easily identifiable (even though unintentional) the parallels to the current administration are.
