In the clip of the sketch that originally aired two years ago without controversy, Oscar the Grouch is playing a reporter for the "Grouch News Network," also known as "GNN," which certainly sounds familiar. After Oscar conducts an interview in which he shares hugs and kisses with his royal interview subjects, an irate viewer calls him to complain that his coverage of the news wasn't quite grouchy enough, saying "From now on, I am watching Pox News," adding, "Now there’s a trashy news show!"

Following the rerun, influential conservative blog Big Hollywood ran a post from an anonymous writer using the name "Stage Right":

"If Mom and Dad watch cable news, it’s better than 50/50 they watch “POX News.” So what gives? PBS — a network partially funded with my tax dollars — has the right to tell my kids that their parents watch “trashy” news? The message is clear, I can’t even sit my kids in front of “Sesame Street” without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority..."

BTW, I used to hear CNN often described as the Continuous Negative News; sounds like they were poking at both networks.

I would have to point out several ad hominem attacks in your post first off, (the original) and then do a simple syllogism of your argument, which I will do,

Oscar the grouch did a skit on a childerns show over two years ago.
PBS rebroadcast it.
Therefore;
The government is attacking FOX news.

It seems to me like they simply took two well-known news channels and used them for this joke.

I certainly don't see any reason to get up in arms about it. I really doubt most of the kids who watch it are going to pick up on the joke.

Its Government TV mnot, taxpayer funded, pushing a political agenda not only on the adult side but in their so-called "educational programming".

You know Sanity, I think there's going to be a time coming when a lot of the folks on here are going to start asking for your removal from CM. You were kinda funny to start with, but you just keep getting nastier and nastier. (and frankly, you've caused me to lose my cool at times and end up incurring the wrath of 11 often enough.)
