Its Government TV mnot, taxpayer funded, pushing a political agenda not only on the adult side but in their so-called "educational programming". Original: Sanity

While it is true that PBS receives some of its funding from the government (if it received more, it wouldn't so often have to indulge in the fund raising of tote bag hell), the government has no say in what it presents or what programming choices it makes. Previous administrations have done such things as threaten to cut off their funds over this lack of the government to assert control of such things. To suggest that it is "government tv" is a complete misunderstanding at best, a bald faced lie at worse.

Once again it amazes me how many posters seem to delight in taking what might be a valid point, such as PBS having a more left looking slant than right and turn it into utter nonsense. Mixing the truth with lies does not make the lies more true, it merely destroys the truth of the claim. It is like taking one part custard and three parts bullshit, mixing them together and presenting the result as a dish worth consuming. I personally will continue to pass on that offer.

This happened under Bush - my point is did you advocate shutting off funding then?  This was the time of Bush Derangement Syndrome, lots of folks should've been for it!

Man, didn't take long to shuffle to another board - couldn't figure where it got to....

Why do you ask?

Sanity, did you complain about it 2 years ago, by chance?

I have serious issues with Sesame Street, but I find this whole thing vaguely amusing.  It sounds like an SNL skit done by muppets.

You know Sanity, I think there's going to be a time coming when a lot of the folks on here are going to start asking for your removal from CM. You were kinda funny to start with, but you just keep getting nastier and nastier. (and frankly, you've caused me to lose my cool at times and end up incurring the wrath of 11 often enough.) Maybe you should think about cooling it for a while....

What do you think, guys? If we all asked Mod politely to ban Sanity... think it would carry any weight? (I doubt if my asking would... but many of YOU are good, upstanding CM citizens.)

Adopting the Democratic White House philosophy of condemnation and censorship for any dissension? You ARE a poster boy for your party!

Why not also suggest he be sent to Gitmo? Contrary to the campaign rhetoric - it's STILL open.

It's telling to see something so silly as a reference to a children's show generate such a response. Hey - if Sanity's posts get under your skin and can affect such a response perhaps its you who need to push that 'log off' button.

Beyond 'Sesame Street' if the lack of results is that troubling for you to handle maybe looking back and reliving the 'good old days' will help.

I'd understand your frustration - it has been all gone downhill since then

Except for the fact that Bush pushed to have funding for Government TV reduced or revoked...
