quote:
Truthfully, someone should form The Moderate Party. It would sweep the nation. Third parties have, historically, been a non-starter in American politics. We've always had the same basic Liberal versus Conservative pardigm - we've just had different names for the parties. Still, if there ever was a time in our history that would allow for a viable third party, it would be now. New communication technologies (the internet, twitter, etc.) allow a canadate to bypass the traditional media. I believe that a person who was socially Liberal (pro gay marriage, pro abortion rights) but fiscally Conservative (lower taxes, lower government spending), believed in a strong millitary but a non-interventionist foreign policy, could grab the moderates from both parties and forge a true alliance of the middle. Not saying it will happen - but I do believe it could.
