Thank you everyone! I am hearing from relative strangers here what has echoed in my own head and from others here in my everyday life for some time. I would just LOVE it if this guy could dispell all the naysaying and pull off a transformation, but I don't see it happening. Each and every one of you who have said I can't rescue him or make him grow, you are absolutely right and I do know this deep down. I don't particularly care for the alternatives, but I guess resolution comes in a lot of different packages and not all of them have reconsiliation as an ingredient.
I think I discount my own growth over time. I don't even think I can see it at all except to say I know it is there. It has been mentioned several times in just the past week or so that I have grown in a great many ways that I really hadn't noticed. I don't really know what to think of all that. I do know that it does add to my frustration to see this man sit in suspended animation, possibly even degenerating. I want good things for myself and good things for other people. It is true, however, they have to want good things for themselves too.
