It's still a pretty funny film.

Considering what passes for humor on that quaint little island, do you mind if I do not share your idea of what constitutes a 'funny film?'

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/28/2017 9:39:04 PM)

I admit I have gotten old....
I will even admit that I am no longer physically able to do some of the things I used to do without a second thought
I admit that tonight I had the wonderful experience of sneezing so violently that my back popped and suddenly my legs decided to go on vacation (i.e numb from L3 down)
I admit that tomorrow I will be patching the drywall and doing some touch up painting to one of the walls in my bed room....
Which leads me to...
I admit that my skull is still hard enough to go through dry wall as long as a stud is not in the way....
I admit I need a new body.

I admit that I have the specs I would like in the replacement unit:
1) A natural tendency to a less than 1 percent body fat
2) A nervous system that is at least 60 times faster than the average human
3) Bones with a tinsel strength of steel bars of equal thickness
4) skin that is puncture resistant to knives, ice picks, bullets, shrapnel
5) a visual acuity range from infrared to ultraviolet
6) an immune system that is equal to the dragons of myth

Of course retractable claws would be nice as well

This was an American film made in the mid '70s, rather than anything British. The late Leslie Neilsen has admitted that it was an influence on Airplane as the first disaster movie spoof to be made as well. It's full of very '70s humour, some of which is so gleefully politically incorrect that they probably couldn't get away with it now.

As for your plans for a new body, I'm assuming from that description that you're after something around 5'3" with more facial hair than all three of ZZ Top put together?

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 8:46:51 AM)

I admit K and I are waiting on roadside service to come change a flat tire.
I admit, YES I know how to change a tire and would happily do so, IF the tire places would stop using machines to tighten the lug nuts so tight neither of us can loosen them.
I admit, if we had to be stuck, the lake is a nice place to be stuck at.
I admit Hurray for State Farm's roadside assistance and $0 out of empty pockets!

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 10:02:44 AM)

I admit, tire is changed. I put some finishing touches to a charcoal drawing and we have 2.5 of our 5+miles out of the way.
I admit my most productive stranded with a flat tire ever [:D]

DesFIP -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 10:11:36 AM)

Here's hoping roadside assistance can change it. The Man's been dealing with wheels that don't come off, having to break or cut off the stud.

But I think that's a dissimilar metal problem.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 10:19:14 AM)

Thanks Des, I admit I've had those -simple jobs becoming a nightmare times - I hope things get better.

I admit i polished Master's paneling and it looks so nice!

No, 6 foot even as I am now...
And I have, when I do not trim my beard, more facial hair than all of zz top put together, including annoying eye brow hair that will grow long enough to get into my eyes.

So no, I do not wish to have the body of your average Tolkien dwarf.

But after as many bones as I have broken over my life time, I would prefer not to have to worry about such injuries.

Hillwilliam -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 2:30:57 PM)

I admit I'm waiting for someone to arrive at my house.
The steaks are seasoned
The salads are made
The corn is ready for the grill
Only 1 thing missing and she just texted.

Ooh, "polished the paneling," is that what they call it these days? ;)

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/29/2017 3:49:38 PM)

I admit it hit 102 today.
I admit that I wish I were on the keys for this kind of heat (at least then I can cool off in the 98 degree gulf or Caribbean sea)

Suddenly I got the vision of the main claw on a velcioraptor(?) tapping on the kitchen floor in Jurassic Park...

It would be the table and done to indicate the displeasure of an excessively long wait for the serving wench bringing coffee

I think those were properly called deninonychuses. Crichton obviously thought that velociraptor sounds better than that, though.

Or maybe he was just worried about them getting confused with Deinocheirus, which was (I think) still assumed to be something like a bigger tyrannosaurus back when he wrote the book.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/30/2017 8:29:11 AM)

I admit that I cause more expeditions into left field on this topic than anyone else....
I further admit to wonder at the fact that there are people who seem to know the various species of dinosaurs in a more than trivia based manner

I admit that at this point a trip to what ever city whoremods resides in would be fun.... simply because I have the over whelming desire to nail him with a barrage of water balloons (after suitably treating the water with tempra paint to give his skin a psychedelic paint scheme)

WhoreMods -> RE: I Admit It I........ (7/30/2017 10:05:12 AM)

What can I say? I like dinosaurs. I've liked them since I was four or five, and I like them still. Natural history is a near inexhaustible source of entertainment and pleasure.
(And, if I'm honest, a big part of my beef with creationists is that they wish to deny their children dinosaurs. That's as close to a working definition of pure evil as you're likely to find, frankly.)

The funny thing is that many of the older Christian denominations have worked evolution into the creation of the universe, pointing out that with the exception of two steps out of order, it follows the scientific progression as depicted in the big bang...

When I was in high school and going to mass with my mother (try avoiding going to mass with your mother) I said something about how there is no way that Genisis could jive with science to a priest.

As for denying children dinosaurs, I still hold the residents of the British isles responsible for the lack of dragons on the planet today. Your ancestors sent the 'brave knights' out so many times to slay dragons in order to save some maiden or princess or whatever without stopping to think, someone had to hand the maiden or princess over to said dragon, and they may have had a damn good reason for giving them to the dragons.

His response was, "okay, so they got a couple of things out of order, but consider this, God has set down laws for us to follow, so it is my belief that the laws of science had to be his idea. And while some Popes were stuck in various ideas in history, the church came around to the facts, even if it had to be brought to those facts kicking and screaming."
