ShaharThorne -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/7/2017 9:13:38 AM)

I admit the fever finally broke and I am HUNGRY!!!

I admit the doctor did weigh me and with clothes on I am 259 (take 4 pounds off because of shoes and clothes, that means 255). 20 more pounds til I am at my pre-current mental med cocktail weight (Depokate made me gain 90 pounds when I started it). I just need to avoid brownies...LOL!

I admit I went kinda crazy at Dollar Tree but I did not buy out everything and avoided the Halloween section (though the glasses were pretty in the fall colors).

I admit I am drooling over my Ikea catalog...now to find a certain bookshelf unit to put in my room.

Hillwilliam -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/8/2017 2:55:37 AM)

I admit I'm half asleep this morning

WhoreMods -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/8/2017 4:39:07 AM)

I admit I finally gave up and bought one of those aeropress coffee things that were briefly fashionable last year.
I admit looking at it, it seems fragile, fiddly and there's nothing to stop the brew dripping through the filter out of its bottom as soon as you add boiling water.
I admit I furiously resent half of the instructions being taken up with coffee recipes that suggest you're only going to use the thing to make mug so small that it makes a demitasse look like one of those huge decorative pewter tankards that hold a pint and a half.
I admit that I'm still looking forwards to trying it out later...

I admit I still like my porcelain coated campfire percolator style coffee pot over anything else.
I admit I like my coffee strong enough to either drink, degrease an engine, or peel paint off steel at 600 yards.

WhoreMods -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/8/2017 6:00:52 AM)

The original stovetop percolators are great, no question, but I'm after something that'll make coffee from a kettle, rather than needing to put it on a hob. If this works, it'll be a lot faster than the pour over thing I'm using at the moment. I'm very annoyed that the closest thing I can find to the excellent cup top makers that DE were givng away as a freebie fifteen years ago are those vietnamese phin things, which are tiny. I I could find something like those that are of a half decent size (a half pint or so) I'd be sorted.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/9/2017 6:45:26 AM)

I admit my new computer is coming to Texas by way of Illinois, after being shipped from Secaucus NJ
I admit this is comparable to doing a tonsillectomy through the navel, which means a Brit had to come up with this particular route.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/9/2017 2:19:09 PM)

Oh, one more thing about the new pc....

Shoots Shahar an evil maniacal grin....

Ryzen 5, 4 core, 1400 3.2 GHz, 32gb ram, radeon 580

And as soon as I can find some unsuspecting soul to buy Lucy, I can buy us both a threadripper, and when they bring her back and pay the restocking fee, we can buy Australia.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/9/2017 7:24:34 PM)

I admit that I hate laying laminate floor (i do not give a fuck if it is supposed to be better than real wood.)
I admit that my bedroom and bathroom are the last rooms for this project.
I admit that whoever the brainiac that renovated this home prior to our purchasing it was a royal fuck up with a passion for cheap materials (the kitchen cabinets seem to be made out of something resembling high density card board.)

Phoenixpower -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 12:18:13 AM)

I admit yesterday I attended two bakery courses with a professional here who has achieved a high profile in her career...

I admit she baked for Elton John, Johnny Depp and other peeps in the past and her courses are incredible good (I did one before)...

I admit however, I'm today more dead than alive...her courses do wear me out๐Ÿ˜ฃ๐Ÿ˜”

I admit the next one will be on 30th of September and another two middle of December๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

WhoreMods -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 4:53:40 AM)

I admit that this aeropress thing is crap.
I admit that I bought the fucker because of claims that they make stronger coffee than a cafetiere (or French press if you're American, which always puzzles me as they're an Italian invention, not a French one), and am very annoyed that it doesn't.
I admit that the design, which lets vaguely coffee looking unbrewed black water drip straight through until the pump and i's vacuum seal are fitted, is not ideal.
I admit it was probably stupid to expect a company that makes frisbees to have designed a decent coffee maker in the first place, and the fact that this aimed at the same sorts of millennial hipsters who also think that Noodler's barely functional fountain pens with "flex" nibs that don't flex at all unless you lean on them even harder than Tommy leans on his lawyer in GTA: Vice City should probably have been a warning.
I admit I probably won't be more careful about this sort of thing in future...

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 6:43:33 AM)

I admit they invented the device that WhoreMods is referring to as a way to infuriate the Brits.
I admit I have no clue why whoremods is so upset since it is common knowledge that Brits prefer tea...

Kaliko -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 6:57:47 AM)

I admit that I might be a little chattier than usual today. I'm resting an injured knee, so nothing more strenuous than turning on the TV for me today. Awareness has even stopped me from going grocery shopping. You know it's serious when he tells me to not do chores. So I'm propped up with my Kindle, my tablet, and Netflix.

Any good books to recommend? (Not kink-related. Those people are weird.)

I admit that I am of the "books are printed on paper" school, so I recommend the 'Rise and fall of the Roman Empire' in its complete unabridged non-electronic form.
I admit that the non electronic book philosophy will create some difficulty when we do the floor in my room, as there are 8 books shelves and close to 700 pounds of books to be moved.
on a related note:
I admit I am at a loss to understand why my sister wanted to throw away the 9 boxes labeled 'misc. radio parts' when we were prepping the computer/radio shack/ hobby room for the new flooring.

Kaliko -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 7:22:48 AM)

I used to be a strictly paper book person, too, until just about a year ago. And then I actually tried a Kindle, and...I love it. I rent books out from my library still - just electronically, so no late fees. (And I was always late.)

What I really like about it is the ability to read at 2 AM with just a tiny glow of light needed instead of a glaring book light. I can read without waking Awareness up, and it helps me go right back to sleep again instead of lying awake in the dark doing all that damn....thinking. It's been a lifesaver. But yeah, until I actually tried one, I was very anti-Kindle.

I tried one, didnt like it.

Tried using the e reader ap on my android notebook....

Didnt like it.

Besides, the hard cover version of war and peace has a very satisfying thud when you heave it across the room at someone that pissed you off and hit em in the face (ah, college memories) and will survive such a use, can you kindle?

I can probably whip a Kindle across the room more easily than I can heave a hard cover. What the Kindle lacks in impact resilience, it makes up for in distance and accuracy.

needlesandpins -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 8:19:17 AM)

I admit that not all us Brits prefer Tea. I prefer coffee, and I like it strong and black.
I admit I like my books made of paper and do not own a Kindle, nor any such.
I admit that I am fed up today for several reason, for which I can't do anything about any of them right now, and that is adding to the annoyance.
I admit that other people's cats messing in my garden frustrates me off. People should take more responsibility for their own pets. If I wanted to clean up cat crap, I'd own my own cat. Oh wait, I did, three of them, on my own yard, and they were litter trained. When I couldn't move them to my new yard they came to my house where they became house cats. I'm highly allergic to them, and rather phobic, so I rehomed them as house cats where they wouldn't crap in someone else's garden, or cause someone to have to brake hard as they just decide to run in the road nearly causing an accident.
I admit that we've had torrential rain here, and the wind is up, but i know it's nothing compared to what those in the path of Irma are facing. As a general rule though, whatever you guys have hits us at some point too, and we've already had our fair share of shitty weather this year.
I admit that I'm hoping everyone stays safe.

Needles

It definitely worked in my case, I don't mind admitting that.

As for the other, we were drinking coffee back when you guys were still buying your country from the Indians, mate. Why do you think the renaissance happened? I'll tell you why: when beverages made with boiled water came in you could actually drink something besides booze without shitting yourself to death six hours later. Not being pissed out of their minds all day every meant people could think about stuff more all of a sudden.

As for ereaders: I have a Sony one (I am not touching a Kindle if I can avoid it, and avoid even buying proper books from Amazon) and I'm with you that they'll be a lot more useful when they make one that bounces instead of breaking. A waterproof one that won't break if you drop it in the bath would be good as well, come to that...

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (9/10/2017 10:10:46 AM)

How can brits claim to like coffee more than Americans, considering their annual import of the drink of the gods is $937,768 compared to the US $5,746,635, and the UK still imports more tea than coffee.

It rates right up there with those individuals from south of the wall claiming Scotch as their whiskey!

This brings up the opportunity to put forth my theory that Hadrian's wall was not built by the Romans, but by the Scots in an attempt to keep those inferior beings south of the wall from stealing their stuff.

And since Canada did not become completely independent of Great Britain until 1982, I hold the British government, people and all creatures living on that island responsible for inflicting Justin Beiber on the world!

(see the logic that staying up till 0400 laying laminate flooring brings forth?)
