we're just fucked then. I know nothing.

*gets off the comp, gets dressed , heads to her low paying job in a field that she happens to be very talented in, and continues to work hard in, because she loves it,even though she doesn't even make enough to support herself*

well, all benmoshe has proved so far is that he knows how to whine. uh, none of these guys are wizards, only clowns and business men wear suspenders.

While at MetLife, Benmosche oversaw the insurer's conversion from a mutual company to a public corporation. He also orchestrated several major deals, including the $11.5 billion acquisition of Travelers Life & Annuity from Citigroup (C) in 2005. He "instilled a lot of financial discipline" at MetLife and led a "seamless integration" of acquired businesses, says Andrew Edelsberg, an insurance industry analyst at A.M. Best. Before MetLife, Benmosche was an executive at Paine Webber—now part of UBS (UBS)—and when that firm acquired Kidder Peabody in 1994, Benmosche oversaw the combining of the brokerage firms' operations. This experience makes him "a good choice" to lead AIG, Edelsberg says.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidder,_Peabody_&_Co. (where was benmoshe in this scandal?)

citibank was on the ropes with treavelers life, they were moving into the shit that caused our meltdown, insurance wasnt sexy.

So, no wizard, and I can look at a balance sheet and say fire 500 people, the overhead is too fuckin high, or why the fuck do we gotta have 47 pieces of paper here? lets get this down to 20.

He works for the government, he don't like it? hit the fuckin road and grow grapes, there are plenty other fuckheads out there.

Since you asked, Benmoshe was nowhere near the scandal.  He had nothing to do with Kidder, Peabody and Co until a firm he worked for acquired it after the scandal.

mnottertail -> RE: Welfare Queen threatens to "Go Galt" (11/12/2009 9:07:39 AM)

well, he had to know about it as the bond scandal ran from 90-94 and why the business was dumped by GE, since he was Paine Webber EVP and Director of Securities Operations from 1989-1995

So, how is he a wizard for: Benmosche was an executive at Paine Webber—now part of UBS (UBS)—and when that firm acquired Kidder Peabody in 1994, Benmosche oversaw the combining of the brokerage firms' operations. This experience makes him "a good choice" to lead AIG, Edelsberg says.

Like I said, no wizardry to buy poison cheap and then axe the fuckheads. That appears to be his only forte, and who the fuck is Edelsberg anyhow? What wizardry does he possess

Benmoshe is a typical dime a dozen fuckhead, and no savior. He don't like the hand hes dealt, knowing the game? Take a fuckin hike.

No we're not fucked.
Just sayin that a lot of the so called best and brightest MBA's in those firms ended up causing a lot of the mess and if new are hired with similiar bad ideas and allowed to run amok, then the same will happen all over again.

No. it's really not.

What is misplaced is the people whining and moaning about how government health care is going to bankrupt the country while in the next breath declaring we should reward  the "talent" at corporations who have been kept from going bankrupt at taxpayer expense.

As Taxpayers I wonder if we're all going to be issued shares of stock in AIG since we are now investors in the company?

Sure, cause that's what a failing economy needs, a bunch of people with no experience to further run it into the ground.

Well, that's how we chose the current president and his band of minion czars.

Because the ones that had years and years of experience did so fine a job of it, and put us dead center in the shit we are now.

So, who had experience running anything, before they ran something?

Ford?
Washington?
Churchill?
Watson?
Eisenhower?
Roosevelt?
Alexander?
Caesar?

go ahead and thing about it, I can wait.

We should start an organization to address that blatant bigotry.

Maybe the National Association for the Advancement of Wealthy People.

They already have one:

I'm just wondering where all this GOP anguish over the deficit and our indebtedness to China was when Bush decided to give away the Clinton surplus in tax cuts for the wealthy while doubling the national debt.

Moonhead -> RE: Welfare Queen threatens to "Go Galt" (11/12/2009 10:02:02 AM)

It's a good question. Strange how nobody on the right said a word about that for eight years, isn't it?

And this is another thing that really cracks me up in how the GOP plays on ignorance.

Obama Had Record Deficit Of $1.42 Trillion In FY 2009, Three Times More Than Previous Record Last Year. “The Obama administration has released new deficit numbers, and they are not pretty. The deficit for fiscal year 2009, which ended Sept. 30, came in at a record $1.42 trillion, more than triple the record set just last year.” (David Jackson, “Obama Team Makes It Official, Budget Deficit Hits Record. By A Lot,” USA Today’s “The Oval“ Blog, 10/16/09)

The fiscal year that ended on September 30th was Bush's budget.

Obama's first budget began with the new fiscal year.

Yes, it is.  What is also misplaced is trying to claim I want to "reward" anyone, when what I actually wanna see is the people who put is in this mess put out of business, (many of them already are), without scaring away the actual talent that can turn this around.

Good question...which is why I think the GOP is just as bad as the Democrats, causing me to not support either political party for quite a few years now.

Kinda cracks me up how often people jump to conclusions and assume my disapproval of the present government means I approve of the Republicans, when they've nearly been as bad.

Too bad the stimulus that was added by Obama, not by Bush is in those numbers. FAIL again

Willbeur, you really need to start doing some research before continuing to make yourself look foolish time and again.

The 2009 budget deficit—How did we get here?

Read full text of this publication in PDF format

In March 2009, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected a baseline deficit of $1.67 trillion, or 11.9% of gross domestic product (GDP) for fiscal year 2009. This was up from a deficit of $459 billion in fiscal year 2008, or 3.2% of GDP, and a reversal from surpluses a decade ago.

These growing federal deficits are the result of four primary factors: the 2001and 2003 tax changes; the external effects of the current recession; increased Bush-era spending, including spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; and the various short-term responses to the recession, including the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and financial market bailouts.

The recession itself is the most important cause, responsible for just under half of the deterioration. The ARRA constitutes less than a tenth of the total deterioration since 2001.
