now you try misdirection. how does Afganastan figure in this?

15 years in "intelligence" and you can't spell Afghanistan?

Fuck a duck!

Still, I suppose so long as you can find it on a map, that's the main thing.

MasterJack53 -> RE: Jesus Camp (11/12/2009 12:26:46 AM)

while I havent heard of many of these CHURCHES,they do seem to have one thing in common.....they all hold the faith of CHRISTIANITY. Perhaps you need a funk and wagenals dictionary to find out the meaning of faith and church.

So, Jesus admits to speaking to people in nothing but parables. This raises more questions than answers.

Well now, not to worry. The only thing that really matters is the degree to which the believer believes s/he has the clearer telepathic bond with said deity. I'm sure you'll do fine.

its just that you said you would provide "many many faiths...." and all you continually provide is many many churches. I dont think Im wrong when I say they are not the same.[8|]

When "Jesus came", didn't he say that all the old laws are pretty much nul and void?

I don't think that's accurate, there are several instances where he failed to uphold the law. However, he said that the law still applied several times and I'm not aware of any passages where he says the law is nullified.

"Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law." (Romans 3:31 NIV)

And there are so many contradictions in that book that I can never take it seriously.

We can definitely agree on that.

I like your rapier. is it a Toledo blade? I had one back in 74 but stupidly, not knowing how much it was worth, gave it to a friend for a Haloween costume and he lost it.

they are only contridictions to those who do not believe. I saw them too before I was saved. It says that this would be the case for non believers. I used to have an aswer for every miricle, and could point out several contridictions. Now I have been allowed to see the truth and see that I was wrong.[:)]

Remember the tone some D/s folk get when the TPE discussions come back around in their cyclic manner? For some, being able to chastise the extreme makes their own kinks/views more seemingly acceptable comparatively.

now disassociation and taking things out of context. perhaps you are smarter than I give you credit for. If you've lost track of which posts we are talking about, perhaps you should raise the white flag and surrender. As for the insult to my service and dedication to my country, fuck you both! Did you serve? I doubt it. I dont think you have the balls.

I don't have balls, that is at least the first correct submission you have made.  And you do those who fight and serve their countries, a disservice for the insulting and crass behaviour you exude.
So you were taught and teach, that if you cannot be intelligent, you are supposed to lie?  What does that say about you as a man, and what does that say about the agency you alledgedly served in?

But that is personal and not really what your OP was about.  So I will ask you again.  What makes you biblical literacy correct and the Jesus camp teachings, incorrect?

It's ok, take your time, I am just a woman, I can sit and do my nails here whilst I await a response.

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fundamentalist_denominations"

Which link states:

Fundamentalist Christianity, also known as Christian Fundamentalism or Fundamentalist Evangelicalism, is a movement that arose mainly within British and American Protestantism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among conservative evangelical Christians, who, in a reaction to modernism, actively affirmed a fundamental set of Christian beliefs: the inerrancy of the Bible, Sola Scriptura, the virgin birth of Christ, the doctrine of substitutionary atonement, the bodily resurrection of Jesus, and the imminent personal return of Jesus Christ.

Notice that there is nothing in there about a literal interpretation of the Bible, nor does the word "literal" appear anywhere in the body of the referenced wiki page. This is not the kind of "Fundamentalism" that we tend to think of when we use the word (typically perjoratively) today. Whether or not some or even most of those congregations subscribe to Biblical literalism is another matter.

badlilthang -> RE: Jesus Camp (11/12/2009 12:46:20 AM)

hmm..The Bible was written by men - MANY years ago...rewritten each time a new ruler got into power - so that they might look good...things removed - things added - who knows what the original even sounded like??

Both in the Bible and the Koran it seems to be acceptable to kill "those not like us" -angry little men kill innocent people - in the name of the lord or allah - jihad is still accepted and used as  a good tool to kill christians or infedels, for instance...

i am thinking....*love thy neigbor..do onto others..thou shall not kill...in short...follow the 10 commandments - it seems to be  a pretty good way to live...instead the fanatics use/twist/turn the bible to fit them personally - for instance - treating women like something less than a man...making sure they emphasize on all the bad things - and not the good...i have yet to hear a fanatic say something remotely positive or loving. i see cults where men have many wives...and oddly - the men get older and older - the women younger and younger..it sickens me...it seems like most of those cults are nothing more than sex-games hiding it and giftwrapping it in "God's" name...

i am not an expert on the good book - but i can look up all the nifty quote from it online - just as fast as anyone else.heh...i try to live my life as a good human being - being kindhearted and positive. Loving my family - stand up for my friends - and respect others and their view on things...people who kill just to make a point does not get my vote in any shape, way or form. So - all bible thumpers - where is the LOVE??

And...just because i am curious - OP - and You seem to want to take the good book literaly:

did Adam and Eve have bellybuttons?

Adam and Eve - first two people in earth - got two sons, Kain and Abel. Kain killed Abel - and married a jewish woman...and she came from...where??

and i probably should not have posted this...dicussing politics and religion never brings anything good..*L*..

If your "service" (and let's be generous and allow you may be telling the truth, although I doubt it) was conducted in as retarded a way as your postings here, I think the nation's military are probably better off without you. No wonder they keep bombing the crap out of the wrong people.

<thinks>

Or were you some kind of secret weapon? Dropped behind enemy lines, your mission was to ... well, just get a job with the enemy, and let your "intelligence" take its course? That could have been something along the lines of a tactical nuke I would reckon. Powerful stuff.

I gave you a list of denominations. Denominations are different than churches, here's the definition:
1. A large group of religious congregations united under a common faith and name and organized under a single administrative and legal hierarchy.

Please stop trying to baffle with bullshit.
