The comment has been made that no president has bowed before. I decided to kill two birds with one post, so to speak.

I dont see this as a diversion. You, of course, will see it as you wish. A comment was made, and i pointed out the error. No surprise that you have a problem with that.

I pointed out your ignorance of Japanese custom with respect to bowing. Your replies have been a diversion (by your own admission) addressing something unrelated that someone else said about presidents not bowing. And trust me, that is not how I "wish" to see it.

I have previously posted on the customs of bowing. But to refresh...

quote:

Let's begin learning how to bow properly in Japan. Bowing seems simple, but there are different ways of bowing. It depends on the social status or age of the person you bow to. If the person is higher status or older than you are, you should bow deeper and longer. It is polite to bow, bending from your waist. Men usually keep their hands in their sides, and women usually put their hands together on their thighs with their fingers touching. If it is a casual situation, you can bow like nodding. The most frequent bow is a bow of about 15 degrees. You might feel strange to do it, but try to bow in Japan. You will be considered very polite.

And this "refresher" comes from which of your posts?

LOL

Matters not. I see it as east meets west with the handshake and bowing. Two men respecting each other enough to greet in the others custom. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes.
