hi everyone. I'm new to this site, and was about to join a chatroom.. my computer (using windows vista) tells me there is some activex control that the website wants to install, and even when I click ok, it blocks the installation of the IE active x plugin.. anyone know what's up with this? are these chatrooms safe to use?

If you are worried about it just get an IRC client and go in that way. The chat here is just a java IRC client.

Try irc.collarme.com or just collarme.com. Either seems to work. Just don't expect much by the list of channels I just looked at.

They both worked for me when I was using it.

Active X is a microsoft add on that is notorious for letting viruses through.

I hope you have fun. It must be my age- as I don't see any benefit to doing chat.

I do like the message board format-

Chat seems like ASL. And not much return info. Just open ended questions. A bot could talk to you a while before one would even know it.
So maybe it is a been there done that with me...
