Hi everyone,

I know a lot of people seem offended by this question, but I think it's actually valid.  We all have our preferences.  I think we've been hammered with anti-racism rhetoric so much that there is tremendous white guilt with having any preference around race - or at least saying anything about it.

I read something that challenged people to look around them.  How many of your closest friends are like you?  They look like you, have the same religion, are the same socio-economic class, etc.  The reality is that generally like attracts like - for whatever reason. 

I don't think there is anything wrong with saying, "Hey I have a race preference for my lovers."  I think it is no different than saying I have a preference for body type, smokers, religious views, geography.  In the end, a lot of what attracts us about race is pheromones and scent.  It's not a derogation of other races or body types, religions, etc.  It's just your preference. 

Lots of people love lilies.  They are beautiful.  Nothing wrong with them.  Me?  Can't stand 'em.  I can appreciate that they are beautiful, but I'd never bring them into my home.  Just not my thing.  But a sweet lil daisy?  Yep.  I'd have them everywhere!  And lilacs, ohhhh goodness.  Lilacs would be my joy!  Just preference.

I believe I may be rambling - happens before I have coffee.  If I made any sense, well that's good luck, isn't it?

I don't really care for lilies either.  *grins*

But I find members of all races attractive.  Pretty much everyone is darker than I am, except for albinos, so it's all a matter of degrees as far as how dark.  For me the big thing is voice.  Someone who has an unattractive voice, or speaks poorly will always be unattractive.

Show me a man or woman with a brain, the capacity to carry on a conversation with me, and we can make each other laugh, and I will show you a person that I am more than likely going to date.

Now honestly, most of my relationships have been with white men and women, but it kinda just happens that way.  I have only been approached by 2-3 black males for a relationship.  I only dated one, as the others happend to approach when I was involved with another person.

-shrugs-  Show me a glowing green man/woman with pink purple and orange polka dots that has the criteria stated at the start of my post, and I'd probably date/do them too!

I lived in a town once that had the crappiest coffee... and Starbucks came to town - I did a dance, a real dance in there I was so excited!

I find it soooo fascinating how many people did not post a preference, but pointed out they are attracted to anyone in the human race. Whil I would say I feel the same way, I want to know: does your dating history reflect this? For instance, I can't think of a race I don't find hot. And I like to say my preference is for Latin men (as I am half Latin and half Asian). HOWEVER, if I go by dating history, I'd say I am about 65% preference for white men with the rest being some sort of hispanic or Latin (Spanish, Cuban, Mexican). If we go by sex and not dating and also if we add women (who I have had "relations" with, but not dated) then that adds some African American in there too.

I have had a few casual play dates with some Asian men, but for some reason even though I was raised around them, I just don't end up dating them! They always end up in the strictly friends department. Now, do I find them attractive? Hells yeah. If I could score with the bad guy from Old Boy, I would so so in a heart beat.

So yeah... I'd say there is a difference between what I find attractive and what my actual preference is. There are Asians, African Americans, occasionally Middle Easterners and Pacific Islanders that I find very attractive. However, the people I end up with tend to be white or Latin.
