Wow. Judgemental conformists are on a rampage today! "Speed kills" is propaganda, and particularly american. Nevermind the rush to judgement as to why the OP has this little problem. The "get a bike" comments are awesome too. Compassion. Understanding. Who needs those?

I've known people to bicycle 20 miles to work and back. In all weather.
Do that. You'll be in better shape, you'll save money, and you won't be on the road threatening innocent people.

Read the whole thing, Einstein.

You would have to be judgemental NOT to think she needs a major attitude adjustment to her driving.

The 'little problem' causes thousands of deaths per year.

Compassion? Mine is for the innocent.

She has a license, and California requires a license for mopeds.  I was thinking of the insurance issue... since she cannot go 100 mph on one, I thought perhaps there was special insurance she could obtain to ride one.  Or a Segway (there are a couple in my town, and people ride them on the sidewalk).

Actually, you don't need a license to ride Anything under 50cc's(most 80cc motors look and sound exactly like a 50 ;D)in california, you can't legally ride on the freeway(or would you ever want to) but you can use almost any other roads to your hearts content, and if you really wanted to, you could even insure it for next to nothing....Here's a good site

That information is at least 3 years out of date.  The over/under 50 cc rule ended in 2006.  In California, the rules are:

Scooter:  a motorized two-wheel vehicle with a floorboard designed for standing.  It may have a seat, but if the seat interferes with the driver's ability to stand while operating it, it is not a scooter.  Scooters are not required to be registered, have license plates, or carry insurance.  HOWEVER, the driver of the scooter must be at least 16 years old and have a license.  There are restrictions on where scooters can be ridden.

Vespas:  All Vespas and other traditionally classified scooters must be registered regardless of cc's (as of 2006).

Mopeds/Motorized Bikes:  Two or three wheels, capable of 30 mph or less, must have functional pedals for human propulsion, etc., can be ridden on streets and bike lanes.  Requires registration and a Class M2 drivers license.

Mopeds/Motorized Bikes:  Two or three wheels, capable of 20 mph or less even if assisted by human power, etc.  No registration, insurance, etc., required.  Only requirement is licensed rider with a helmet.  Can be ridden in bike lanes.

Granted, I'm not up on CA vehicle traffic laws, and right now I'm too lazy to search for it, but in all states that I have worked, anything over 25-30 miles above the posted speed limit is considered criminal speed, not an infraction, but a misdemeanor.  And the cop would/should know about the tickets, because in some states, the officers take your license and you drive on the ticket.  Again, it's been years since I worked in CA, so the laws may have changed some, but I don't see them changing to the lesser degrees.

Of course, I'm also getting the idea that if her car wasn't in impound, she'd be driving it anyway, no matter what the status of her license is......people do it all the time, and they could care less if they get caught.

And states also suspend your license for failing to pay your traffic fines, and issue warrants for your arrest for not doing so.  If your fines and court costs are on par with say, Arizona, they're going to get a warrant issued.  Something just doesn't sound right here to me.....

And I don't buy your excuse for the reason you were speeding.  I have a child, and would never jeopardize myself or anyone else the way you did.  What good is it if you kill yourself?

And I'm betting you probably weren't wearing a seat belt either?

And YOU just plain need an attitude adjustment..
yours stinks and reeks of anger and rage..
How can you be judgemental not to think...??
IS that not tolerance with understanding..??

I have been on here for 2 years and posted 2000+ times and this is the first time where I have been called psycho...idiot etc.

Therefore from that I UNDERSTAND
that what I did is seen as such and I accept it..
One cannot post and not have their big girl panties on..
and get stoned once in a while....MY TURN

but I ALREADY KNEW...all of what was said

and was asking how to get USE of a vehicle or help/ideas
for personal reasons..

WHAT OCCURED WAS COMPELTELY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR ME THAT DAY BUT I CANNOT GO BACK ONLY FORWARD..

* I have a bike
* I take the bus
* I walked off 30 lbs this summer for a total of 100
*I have friends who take me around
* 2 subs have offered to take me for errands

*I don't think I am a troll ...Do they not try to get a reaction?
*I wanted solutions...
*I doubt I am a psycho....I have remorse....
*I do not want a free ride...wtf?? from where??.. I PAY
* I do not want to SCAM..even if listed as an occasional driver all my stuff comes up..if I wanted to scam I would just drive with no insurance and would not have started the thread.

So all in all it has been good I think..
once the dull...ignorant...angered..spiteful..bile spitters..those who blab off...or want brownie points.. are ignored...
and
once I read and internalized dramatic response to speeders
( warranted..noted...I feel the same)

and got a couple good ideas..ty

GM
I AM not posting here again on this thread..
I HAVE a solution ..TY ALL

This is too much of a fucking mess to read.

All I know is that you've shown no contrition at all.

Look at my first post, I wished you well. Now, I don't give a damn.

Your first post of a day old profile is to come on and defend her in this thread?

Allow me to remind everyone that the OP is a resident of Alberta Canada and NOT an American citizen.
Alberta Traffic Act   This link is the rules governing the traffic safety laws for the province of Alberta and was taken from the province's website.

I see why most are quite indignant regarding the OP's admission regarding her driving habits under circumstances which she revealed, yet I really have to wonder if any other drivers would have been able to make a better judgment call if they were in the OP's situation when she got those fines?

Because I do not drive nor do I posses a driver's license, I will not cast any judgement or condemn the OP for a choice she felt she had to make that caused her to receive those speeding tickets. To do otherwise will make me a hypocrite and hell hasn't frozen over yet for me to be labeled one.

That makes very little sense.  People who cannot see well tend to make FEWER changes in type size, type font, type color, and type style, NOT MORE.
