Allow me to remind everyone that the OP is a resident of Alberta Canada and NOT an American citizen.
Alberta Traffic Act   This link is the rules governing the traffic safety laws for the province of Alberta and was taken from the province's website.

I see why most are quite indignant regarding the OP's admission regarding her driving habits under circumstances which she revealed, yet I really have to wonder if any other drivers would have been able to make a better judgment call if they were in the OP's situation when she got those fines?

Since the OP said "CA" and "over 100 mph", not "over 100 kph", you can see why this has been confusing.  100 kph is about 62 mph, which most people would not consider a very serious issue, even in a 35 mph zone (unless it was a school zone while children were present).  But 100 mph?  Given that the US federal speed limit was 55 mph not that many years ago, 100 mph IS a big deal to most people.

I think there would be a wee bit more compassion if she were racing to provide a rare blood type to save her grandchild's life and every moment counted, for instance; however, that was not the case and her racing there was all about her and her distress.  If she was that distraught, she should have gotten a friend to drive her.

to poster #52 Her posts are a mess because She is partly blind, it is easy to make assumptions and shit on people. to speed three times in day is out of character.

mslut4u
holy shit!!!

So...she was clipped three times going over 100 MPH (i suspect more, but that is beside the point)...is partially blind and in all probability should not have a license at all (not that that would stop her) and has the balls to get pissed that she did not receive the helpful answers she was after on how to get her car back and bullshit the system?

I would take this with a grain or 200 of salt Hols. It was his first post on here which means a) he has no idea what he is talking about b) he knows her offline c) "he" IS the OP trying and failing to gain sympathy for her.

OP having seen your lovely rant, any sympathy I might have felt for you is gone. If you were smart you would just take your lumps and find another way to get around. Someone (don't remember who, sorry) made the good point that if you had tried to explain your speeding you might well have gotten an escort to the hospital, instead you kept right on speeding, which put innocent people at risk. I don't think you are repentant at all. I think you just thought you would get a better response if you said you realised you had done wrong.

As said before, since you were distraught - and for good reason - why not have someone drive you instead of getting in a car and driving at a time when you were bound to be distracted...to put it mildly?

LaTigresse -> RE: Need a car..but I ben bad... (11/23/2009 4:22:53 AM)

Using fast reply.....

I do not know the laws in Canada but I do know that here in Iowa USA, driving is a priviledge NOT A RIGHT. When you do things to fuck up your priviledge you lose your right. When you lose your right, you will either continue to thumb your nose at the laws and ultimately lose your freedom, OR you will jump through the hoops of the laws that govern your rights to regain that privilege.

My adult son knows this all too well. He neglected to pay tickets, had his license revoked temporarily, continued to drive, spent time in jail and will not have his license until July 2010. He estimates he could have paid for the house he lost nearly in full for all the fines and legal expenses he has incurred.

He does not drive yet manages to pick up and drop off his sons, get to and from work, go shopping, and all the other things a person needs to do to function.

There is no "Get out of Jail Free" card. Suck it up princess.

I'm confused was she going 100mph or 100kph?

OP, if you were going 100 mph I have no sympathy even under the circumstances that you were in. You choose to put your life and the lives of other's in danger. Could you have honestly lived with yourself if there had been an accident and you killed someone? Would your reasons have justified someone elses death to their loved ones? Would your family have been able to live with your death?

As to your question, a car is rarely necessary. Convenient but not necessary. Pay your fines off totally then worry about getting another vehicle.

LadyPact -> RE: Need a car..but I ben bad... (11/23/2009 5:32:09 AM)

I've read the thread and listened to everyone's opinions.

I can promise you that, sitting here, if I honestly thought My Granddaughter's life was in jeopardy, I won't make any claim that I would be the best driver on the road.  I will make My apologies for that, but I won't deny the truth.

I can also promise you that I would have done everything in My power to have the first cop that pulled Me over to get Me where I needed to go.  If I were in such a state, I highly doubt the first cop would have let Me drive off anyway.

In such a situation, people could cite to Me all they wanted about how a Dominant is always in control.  In such extenuating circumstances, I can't promise that I would be able to maintain such a standard.  In the end, I am a human first, who is just as prone to fallacy as any other.  I would hope that other humans would have compassion, should I take leave of My senses in the most dire of situations.

What I can tell you is that I would take full responsibility for My actions.  My fines would be paid.  Any repercussions from My actions would be fully accountable to Me after the urgency of the situation has passed.  When My sanity returned, I would deal with the rest.  I wouldn't be asking how to avoid it, get around it, or anything else.  I can only hope an pray such a thing will never happen.

But if it did, I can absolutely promise you that the first cop would never forget Me.

Termyn8or -> RE: Need a car..but I ben bad... (11/23/2009 9:15:11 AM)

I can look down the barrel of a gun with not a quiver, I'll tell someone twice my size off, but I won't go 100 MPH. I agree LP, and I guess the OP is a bit like me. I have had my days. In those days I screwed it up pretty much permanently and now I can't get legal. So I just take my lumps as they come along. But in no way do I avoid admitting that I did wrong.

But to get logical about this, would you rather use a phone at the hospital or call from a jail ? IIRC in this state anything more than 25MPH over the posted limit means bail and jail. They don't care who's dying, you get cuffed and stuffed, and it is not kinky at all.

Any reason doesn't matter. Look at ambulances, they don't really go all that fast, their trick to getting somewhere fast is using lights and a siren. Even if someone is literally dying in the back they don't yell up to the driver to step on it. This has been calculated logically, and through reasoning they have determined that causing a half dozen deaths to save one life does not make sense.

I am paying for my past in that every time I get stopped it is not a couple hundred, it is a couple grand. I am not whining, I caused it. I am now probably the safest driver on the road. My eyesight is not the greatest, but I am aware of that and adjust. They also seem to be testing me, twice in the last couple of years I could've gotten into an accident with a cruiser and narrowly avoided it. Once you go illegal you'll need some gravel in your gut.

But people don't think. They are all jammed up and get caught drunk, on the way home from a bar, speeding and weaving. I mean if you are going to do something illegal, where is the common sense ?

To the OP - get legal and stay that way. Take this shit seriously. You'll be sorry if you don't. If I counted it up I would guess that I have paid about a half a million dollars in fines and lawyer bills. My first lawyer told me straight out "The system doesn't work without money". You want to take my path ? You better make alot of money and have a pretty much bulletproof job in case you have to go to jail.

This is a serious matter, and most people take driving for granted. It is not. I'll not argue that it is a right at this time. Actually it is but as long as those with the guns and keys to jails say it is a priveledge, there is nothing I can do about it. But really, in Ohio, the first stop would've likely resulted in an arrest.

SO I am here for some brainstorming..
I would appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE ideas.[:o].and
 already[:o] know the following story
 illustrates irresponsibility and lack of sense..

SO ok..
I have thousands in fines to pay for speeding etc..3 over 100 mph. ..and my car is in impound..which is now at $2000.
I cannot get a vehicle insured until the fines are ALL PAID..

This and the impound will take  time..in fact I may have to let this car go.

I have a licence( not suspended)
I can lease or buy another car.

DO you know of a way I can have use of or have a vehicle
in the iterim.???

IN CA there are new stipulations in place about being added as an occasional driver to someone else's insurance..
otherwise somone could insure a vehicle and then have me as an added driver..
I have looked into being a driver at a company..having  a relative insure for me...and I pay..

I do not know a lot about insurance and how I can be under someone elses name or if there are EG) high rates that I could pay to get a vehicle BEFORE fines are paid etc..

I need a vehicle for several reasons.............desperately
