LatexHer -> Prove -up who you are! (11/22/2009 11:49:00 AM)

We are all growing tired of all the fakes and liars credited to this site! Although there are a few people who genuinely seek another - they seem to grow few. Recently a woman we contacted asked us to provide to her a photo of us holding a sign with HER name written on it. What a GREAT IDEA we thought!

From now on anyone we contact - who cannot submit to us a photograph with our name on it will be Black Balled, and blocked!

All of you could help weed out the fakes, liars, pros, and scammers by insisting on a prove up yourself!

honeygirl -> RE: Prove -up who you are! (11/22/2009 11:56:59 AM)

That only proves that it is either truly a picture of them or that they are expert at using computers to manipulate photos.

That definitely wouldn't stop any liar or fake I've ever encountered, more's the pity! If you think that works for you, great! I would definitely (personally) think it's too much of a drag to do that -- I totally get the reason you're proposing this, though.

DesFIP -> RE: Prove -up who you are! (11/22/2009 6:17:51 PM)

If it turns out that I wouldn't want to meet you, then I sure as hell don't want you having my picture. I live in a small town and it would be really easy for you to track me down and stalk me.

So expect people like me, to block people like you.

CuddleDom -> RE: Prove -up who you are! (11/22/2009 6:33:42 PM)

I have to agree with a moderation of the two extremes; yes, it's a great "proofer" to request, but let's also take some reality into check; just because you may have pictures of yourself freely floating around the internet does not mean I am going to be willing and ready to send my own after a 20 minute conversation.

Pros and cons to both sides I suppose, I for one am in the camp that you will get one of those WAY down the line if you are able to prove you are worth it; otherwise, I am not sending personal pictures out to anyone I don't know in my day to day life, just a personal limit.

Respect both sides, and do well never to think that YOUR opinion and comfort zone applies to everyone else.

Whatever happened to people just conversing back and forth for a good fair amount of time and getting to know each other???

<shakes head>

~FR~

Greetings,

*sighs* to be honest I get tired of reading over and over on people's profiles and the boards complaints and whining about "fakes." I have found that if you take the time and effort to put something substantial in your profile and journal, the proportion of decent e-mails goes up. I occasionally get the scammer- they're pretty obvious to spot, I also get the crude and/or rude one liners once in a while, and the cut and pasted and obviously-have-not-read- a-word-of-my-profile paragraphs. But... the obnoxious and the scams I block, the one-liners and cut-and-pasters I ignore. And I am left with a handful of courteous decent emails to which I respond. I have "met" (in the sense of on-line conversing) many very nice and interesting people. I come to the boards, and the majority of people who bother to take the time to post here, I find to be genuine in their views, whether or not I agree with them and I assume there to be real live homo sapiens behind the keyboards. As to how much I respect them, time and reading their posts helps me. I've had people accuse me of being fake- even had one say I was "Santa Claus" because he didn't believe my photos could be me (next time I take one for CM, I'm thinking of holding the day's newspaper up [8|])- oh yes and I've also been accused of being a "dirty old man behind the computer" and my Master has been accused of being me. It kind of makes me laugh. Why would I take the time to write a lengthy profile and write journal entries and post on the boards if I'm not "real." And anyone with half a brain can tell the difference in writing style, thoughts and demeanor between me and my Master. I think honestly, people find what they look for. If you are ready to find fakes, then you will see fakes; but if you look for quality in people, you will often find that too.

Just my two cents [sm=2cents.gif]

Well wishes,
anna

Oh goody we haven't had one of these in what a week? OP stop looking at the profiles of women who have porn star pics and I'm sure you'll find someone real.

SaintIntensity -> RE: Prove -up who you are! (11/23/2009 4:48:15 AM)

gotta love this - so YOU contact THEM and yet YOU impose conditions that - should they fail to comply - means you "blackball" them - from what precisely?

The National Society Of Grizzly Adams tribute acts, perhaps?

is this a late entry in the Trollscars, because I thought that other dude had it in the bag?
