Many, many musicians and technicians feel exactly that way.

Digital is quiet because it cuts off what it doesn't hear. Analog is much, much warmer, even with the noise.

I even love the noise.  Listening to digital versions and remasters of "Snoopy and His Friends, The Royal Guardsmen" during christmas on something other than vinyl just sounds wrong to me.  I grew up listening to the pops and hisses and clicks of it on the record player, and damn it all, they're supposed to be there! [:D]

Which, yes...  Here it is.
EDIT:  Link fixed

I have that album on vinyl Aylee!  It sounds just... right.  Am I the only one that thinks that some things just sound better on vinyl or on cassette or even 8 track?  Not technically better but, they just sound right.

My parents have it on vinyl and tape and CD.  I only have the CD.  But it is a song I grew up hearing.  Actually the whole album.

While I do enjoy all the silly songs, Brenda Lee just says, "Christmas Time!" to me.  [:)]

[sm=agree.gif] It would indeed be lovely to hear Sir. Hoping Master Tim might add it to his blog site sometime ?

Digital, too, distorts...the data can be misconnected to create "ghosts"--high sound waves that aren't really in the recording.

Thank you, both.

I actually have had digital conversion equipment for a while, so that I could change master recordings to digital. It's still in the boxes. Sigh.

Just one of those many things I hope to get to eventually.

This: The Holiday Song by The Pixies, although I prefer the studio version on "Come on Pilgrim".

*grinz*

I've always loved that song by her. And no... this time I wasn't making innuendos when I linked to that song  hahahaha  Though it is kinda ironic as it was in the soundtrack to Best Little Whorehouse  rofl.

Hard limit! Hard limit! [:D]

One of my co-workers makes it a point to turn the radio up when that song comes on. I love Dolly, but that tune, ugh.

This is all I can think of right now, no particular order:

All I Want for Christmas is You - vince vance and the valiants

Please Come Home for Christmas - The Eagles

Dr. Demento:
walking 'round in women's underwear
the restroom door said gentlman
12 pains of christmas

O Holy Night - Eric Cartman

Christmas in Sarajevo - Trans Syberian Orchestra

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1nxmt_the-pogues-a-fairytale-of-new-york_music

It was christmas eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me: won't see another one
And then they sang a song
The rare old mountain dew
I turned my face away and dreamed about you
Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I´ve got a feeling
This year´s for me and you
So happy christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
Where all our dreams come true.

They got cars big as bars
They got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It´s no place for the old
When you first took my hand on a cold christmas eve
You promised me broadway was waiting for me
You were handsome you were pretty
Queen of new york city when the band finished playing they yelled out for more
Sinatra was swinging all the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night.

And the boys from the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out for christmas day.

You´re a bum you´re a punk
You´re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy christmas your arse I pray god it´s our last.

And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out
For christmas day.

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can´t make it out alone
I´ve built my dreams around you

And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells are ringing out
For christmas day.

Lucylastic -> RE: Your Favorite Holiday Song (11/23/2009 6:38:38 PM)

My old man and grandfather used to sing music hall songs, which over the years had been played about a bit with.
This one is one version, they got ruder as the level in the whisky bottle went down
spoken with a "cockney" accent

It were Christmas in the work'ouse, the best time of the year
All them paupers, they was 'appy, they was full O' Christmas Cheer.
And the Master too was 'Appy as 'e strode down dismal 'alls
And he wished them, "Merry Christmas"
And all them paupers answered, "Balls"
This made the Master angry and he swore by all the Gods,
"You'll get no Christmas puddin'Y' lousy lot of Sods
Then up spoke a war scarred veteran, who'd stormed the Khyber pass,
"You can take your Christmas Puddin' an' shove it up your arse"
