My experience has been vastly different than yours.
It took time but my Owner found me here.
He had been here for less than a month; I had been here for 18 months +/-.
Before we connected, I did not put everyone I interacted with under a negative microscope.
Finding a compatible partner takes time.
Not everyone who is incompatible is hollow and insincere.
After all, you aren't, are you?
I mention this because very likely some of the women (or men), you have had contact with have made the very same judgement (or something equally flattering) about you.
Perhaps you might try to just get to know people... on this side as well as the other.
Stop rushing and enjoy the scenery.
As for damp spots... personally, I prefer my spots to be wet.
