theroebabe -> Is this what Dom's really think? (9/2/2004 5:01:20 PM)

I snipped this from a profile that came up automatically (and certainly not wanted) and wondered if this type of attitude is common:

"Some things I despise are smart mouthed, loud women that seem to think they need to prove they are brighter than the men they are around. My opinion is that they don't know their place."

The profile went on to say something about the men being whipped by this type of woman, blah blah.

So to all all out there, besides my opinion of this ahem person, not being very high, what do you think?

ringlets -> RE: Is this what Dom's really think? (9/2/2004 5:18:51 PM)

i have run into this type of comment before and i have to say how i took it was that that person didn't care for independent woman and woman that were vocal in what they want. i would have to say also...and hope i don't upset anyone with this...the way he puts it means to me that he is looking for a doormat. Someone that won't question what he says or does. But, that is my own opinion so don't hang me out to dry for it.

i personally believe that to be a sub/slave, one has to be able to vocalize what they want and need in their lives and to also be very independent...as the saying goes.."Dom/mes are not mind readers". If we are to take care of a household, ourselves, and our Dom/mes, then we have to be strong within ourselves to be able to give that much of ourselves.

And to say we don't know "our place"...the problem with that is that we do know "our place" and it is under OUR Dominants, not just any Dominant out there.

Submission or being a slave isn't a "place" we are put in...it is a place we chose to be in.

And on a funny note....i have never "whipped" a Man....i have been "whipped" by One, but never did it to Him. LOL

Have a great evening and may it be filled with many smiles,

heh -- I bet the author of that is wondering why he doesn't get notes from adoring women who do know their place. Of course, we know he hates those women because they ARE smarter than him and make him feel like an idiot.

However, the sentiment wouldn't be so obnoxious if it didn't target women. For example, who could disagree with it if it had been written like this: "Some things I despise are smart mouthed, loud people that seem to think they need to prove they are brighter than everyone else they are around. My opinion is that they ignorant, arrogant assholes."

ScorpioMaster -> RE: Is this what Dom's really think? (9/2/2004 6:03:56 PM)

Have your heard topping from the bottom but I do not agree that the men being whipped by this type of woman, blah blah. I also do not agree that women do not know their place unless he is doing a bad job training them. It is the Dom job to train the sub to the level of servitude he requires of her. To me the guy sound like a Jerk and the women need to stand clear of him.

Hi Ringlets,

I guess it just offended me, me being a strong woman, I think you are right on target with his wanting a doormat. Also someone who posts here emailed with a comment oh you seem nice and all but i think you would top from the bottom, well ya know what to all of those who judge a person from posts PTHPTHPTH BITE ME! HA nevermind i wont let ya!

But seriously. I always consider myself a person first and a being a submissive is a part of me not the whole of me.

To each his/her own! Roe

Well see thats sort of my thoughts too but i was trying to be polite heheheheh. Some people dont get it, treat others how you want to be treated its how people learn to have respect for themselves and others.

I don't consider myself hypersensitive to take offense to confident men's comments; but this man's profile/ad reads to me like this "I have been made to feel less than a man by some verbal/confident lady(ies)/broad(s), and I've come to hate women, so from now on, all women will pay for the sins of the she-devil who broke my spirit"....
Don't write me telling me I might be full of S***, I may very well be, but my point is that I hope he doesn't find women with self esteem so low as to allow him to get away with behavior befitting the Ass**** that wrote that profile. I hope all women know their place is with someone who's humane and considerate, and not with a such a vile bastard. (I'm not loud, but I think it's fair to say he wouldn't like me, LOL).

Hi Domme in RI, thanks for your insight.

I ususally am able to pass by over confident men, but his ad was a bit more than over confident, i think it shows a different personality trait. To me it means he may not be able to control himself or his temper as i have met others like this. So it stuck a cord in me knowing one like this. And its sad and people like this usually are very unhappy. Such a waste of the time we have on earth ya know?

To me what you posted sounded like the so called dom is insecure and not too bright. So frustration at being unable to deal effectively with assertive women may lead to the behaviors you describe.

There's your free analysis by an amateur psychologist.

Actually I don't care for smart mouthed loud women. And I don't care for smart mouthed loud men either. I do prefer strong intelligent women. But being smart mouthed and loud makes me believe they are trying to hide something. Man or woman.

Hi Estring,
Yes i can see where that type of rude and crude behaviour could be offsetting and i dont care for that type of person. However, the way this was written leads me to believe that an outspoken strong intelligent person would be considered someone who doesnt know their place as well.

perverseangelic -> RE: Is this what Dom's really think? (9/3/2004 9:40:00 AM)

I don't like the kind of attitude displayed in the original comment, because it implies that women are submissive -because- they are women. This is a huge problem for me. -People- are submissive becuase of whatever reason you want to state, but NO gender is inherantly submissive to another. Period.

In my opinion, this has a ton to do with misogyny and nothing to do with D/s.

How would you feel if a profile read like this?

"Some things I despise are smart mouthed, loud [insert name of ethnic minority here] that seem to think they need to prove they are brighter than the white people they are around. My opinion is that they don't know their place."

Yeah, exactly. Not Dom material, Jerry Springer material. Hatred and arrogance qualify one to be trusted as a Dom to the same extent that being a serial rapist would qualify one to be trusted as a gynecologist. If one has such severe self esteem problems that one wants someone around to look down on and abuse 24/7, it's time to start looking for a really good counselor, not a sub. Trying to call misogyny "dominance" only brings discredit to the BDSM community. D/s is supposed to help people grow, treating someone as inherently and irremediably defective does the opposite.

Just my opinion, disagree away...

I wondered if the quote from the personal would qualify for the misogyny thread but wasnt sure as i am not a professional on this, it just left a sour taste in my mouth. Yes it has to do with people being rude and insenstive and insecure and foolishly opening their mouth to share it with the rest of the world.

sub4hire -> RE: Is this what Dom's really think? (9/3/2004 4:04:49 PM)

My opinion varies from everyone elses. That isn't abnormal it usually does. I see and read things that other's don't always see. I'm not always right. A good majority of the time I am though.
Who knows if I am in this case.

It sounds to me he has had some bad experiences with women in the past. One's who are more intellectual then he. Therefore he is questioning himself on a certain level. Who he is.

I'd say he is a submissive man struggling with his identity. In his mind men should be superior to women therefore he needs to be a Dominant. Even though he lacks the skills required to be a good one.
Perhaps a relationship or session went sour. He tried something on someone and the tables turned.

Anyway, that's what I read into it.

Hi M. Dread,

well i am ok with your kink is ok but its not mine, however, when trying to meet potential partners if thats the best he has to offer then he will miss out on some wonderful people. But alas like an ex of mine, he wouldnt know it if it hit him upside the head with a 2x4. I guess also since humiliation of that sort is not my kink maybe thats why it peturbed me so. More stuff to think about later.

At least jerks like this show themselves right away. Just think if you had wasted your time getting to know him.
