Per CollarMe tradition, this is the obligatory food thread. - What are you having for your Thanksgiving meal?

everhope has her work cut out for her today.  We are having:

Turkey, roasted, not deep fried like some of our southern neighbors.
Stuffing, cornbread & sausage
Potatoes, homemade mashed not instant
Gravy, giblet gravy
Brussel sprouts, steamed and served with butter
Pears, baked curried Bosc pears
Cranberry sauce
Rolls
Sweet potato pie with whipped cream

...yum

SultryMomma -> RE: -=The Thanksgiving Meal Thread=- (11/26/2009 9:34:03 AM)

roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, (all homemade), corn, green bean casserole, pickles, cranberry sauce, black and green olives, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie with cool whip.

editted because I forgot the mashed sweet potatoes.

That doesn't sound like a very well-balanced meal, Babe! You should come have beer and pizza with me!

Anyone we know?
Eating trolls is a community service imo and we certainly could spare a few around here.

Make sure they're well-flambeed, or they'll keep regenerating in your stomach, and you'll get indigestion.

It's just the cats and I today.  But I have sausage balls, cheese ball, (well, blob of what should be cheese ball in a dish) crackers, and crudites for appetizers.  Then we will go on to herbed roasted turkey beast with stuffing bread, green bean casserole, and cranberries.  For dessert, if I feel up to doing it, will be a cranberry pie, which is very rich, so I'm hesitant to make a whole pie.  Otherwise dessert will be a couple of clementines.

KMsAngel -> RE: -=The Thanksgiving Meal Thread=- (11/26/2009 12:23:57 PM)

had last weekend:

roast lamb, garlic and rosemary infused
roast potatoes, carrots, onion
sweet potato casserole
bread rolls
dark and white meat turkey roast rolls
stuffing and gravy
cranberry sauce
pumpkin pie
pavlova with cream/strawberries/kiwi fruit

corn and peas were forogtten - it's tradition to forget something!

Pretty quiet one here today, the big one is on Saturday, which is M's birthday.  Today
Small turkey (12ish LB)
Mashed Po and gravy
Deviled Eggs
Broccoli and corn
Pumpkin pie.

On Saturday though:
Big turkey (23.5 lb)
Roast Potatoes, Carrots and Onions (under the turkey, helps keep it from sticking to the roasting pan and well... free side dish with no extra work)
Mashed Potatoes/turnips/parsnips and Gravy
Candied Sweet Po.
Green Beans with bacon and mushrooms (all fried up nice nice)
Dressing
Deviled Eggs
Cornbread
Rolls
Cran. Sauce
Pumpkin Pie
Lemon Chess Pie
Mulled Cider
Egg Nog
EDIT:  Forgot the pumpkin soup.
Come on by and have some yum!

LadyPact -> RE: -=The Thanksgiving Meal Thread=- (11/26/2009 5:02:25 PM)

LOL.  I was just writing a note on the other side telling someone how I tend to overdo these things.

Appetizers went like this:

Raw veggie tray - carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower
Cheese and cracker tray - three types of cheeses and assorted crackers
Deviled egg - that's a tray all in itself
Various types of salami

The Main Course:

Turky, roasted of course.
Fresh bread stuffing
Mashed potatoes.
Gravy made from the baste
Broccoli (cooked)
Cauliflower (cooked)
Fresh cheese sauce
Rolls
Cranberry sauce

For Desert (which I haven't even found the room to eat):

Choice of -
Pumpkin Pie or
Chocolate Cake
of course with whipped cream

yes

LOL

Though, Wos-Wit does make a pretty good bacon dressing, it's just getting too expensive here. Over $3 for a 12 oz. jar, when I can make better at home for less than $1.
