Aynne, every now and then someone agrees with me, i'm not sure if that should make the person doing the agreeing worry or not LOL.

Thats just it, Lockit, i have never turned away someone i was interested in, no matter what race they are.

Neither have I, and I am **gasp** conservative. Of course I also wouldn't turn away someone because they are a democrat. But then again, I try not to buy into the whole "the other side is evil" bs that seems to find its way on these boards. Not that racism has anything to do with left or right, but it seems to creep into every thread lately.

See, now here we have an example that fits perfectly....im soooo very attracted to you, that your conservative views, while, annoyingly and glaringly wrong[;)], could be overlooked or rationalized away in an effort to get closer![:D]

Awww, you sweet talker you.[:)]

Hells no Candy! I think that feeling guilty for what trips my trigger is just silly, and I am glad you agree.[:D].

This happens everyday in jobs, real estate and other areas (where expressing such preferencs is illegal) - only the very ignorant make direct statements about not wanting other "races" and ethnicities. This is often couched in other creative ways, and not that hard to pick up really.

You are 100% right about this. And when it comes to jobs, real estate and other legal matters, I agree with you that discrimination based on race is masked, subtely stated, yet rampant and absolutely unexcusable.

But, the thing is, personal relationships are whole other can of worms. There is no discrimination in dating, only attraction and desire.

Why do you care if someone has racial preferences in their dating? Honestly. If you are of a race or ethnicity or religion that another person doesn't want to date, why would you want to be with them?

For example, I'm not a skinny mini. I'm not overly overweight neither. I'm voluptous. When a man tells me that he likes a thinner girl, I don't get offended in the least (unless he says it in an offensive way, in which case I see his true colours). That's what he wants! Why on earth do I care? He's not for me. I move on. I have no problems finding men who are into me.

That said, I do get your point. People should be direct about their desires because they have a right to desire what they want. This is a realm where laws don't apply. It's not discrimination in the sense that racism would be, it is a preference. Some people have more precise preferences than others.

But the reason why they don't is because they are afraid of being judged for their desires. As many have stated in this thread, they are afraid that people will react negatively and judge them. But we just about everyone here has a long list of preferences, some are just not politically correct to write.

It is ok for a white girl to say that she likes black men, but it's racist to say that she does not want them.

It is ok for a man to say he likes BBW, but he's a jerk if he states that he does not want them.

It is ok for someone to say that they like people older than them, but it's ageist to say that one does not want them.

These are social norms and it happens to be innapropriate to overtly say we aren't attracted to a group that could be discriminated against. It is however completely acceptable to favour them. Messed up, huh?

I write in my profile that I am very selective and prefer professional and educated men. I've had emails of people who call me a snob based on that. So let them think that. I have my reasons. That said, I like brilliant men of any ethnicity :-)

What i prefer to LOOK at has nothing to do with what a person shows me from the inside.

my goodness, there is something just beautiful... almost poetic, about smooth brown skin, shiny white teeth, jet black hair, ....but i wouldn't say i prefer a skin color, which has no impact on the real measure of a man. If a guy looks like Michael Jordan, but is emotionally, morally, or intellectually stunted....he might as well look like Quasimodo, for all i care.

i find that life is much happier for us "equal opportunity" [;)]sluts....

Which I am quite certain Roger will not be back to comment on. Even if someone had clear racial preferences they couldn't make a decision on whether to contact Roger based on the profile information he provided. As is so common with most rants when you investigate just a little bit you find out that the OP is just a bit on the obtuse side.

Actually, I disagree. The OP brought up a subject that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. However, it is a very valid topic of conversation.

Tulip I am the united nations of dating trust me[;)]. I have dated every ethnicity I think and coming from Maine that says a lot, but a preference is just that, a preference. I don't get why I am drawn to Asian men, for fuck sake there aren't more than a dozen in this whole county I am pretty sure, and I  think Maine is one of the whitest states in the union and white boys don't shake my tree, so go figure. I stand by my statement, give me Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and anyone that looks like a cast member of the Godfather or Scarface, and I'm one hot slut. [:)]. Of course the other things need apply, if they look the part and they are idiots or don't fit my emotional requirements, then well....bugger off.  I mean I am pretty sure that not all men want a tall redheaded chick either, and do I take offense? Of course not. It's not the same thing as saying they won't date me because I am white. They might like a short Caucasian brunette. I don't know...it is just that simple to me. I mean yeah I'm hot for Italian men, but I am not gonna date Joe Pesci, he's gotta look like Bobby DeNiro or Al Pacino, see what I mean?

I have noticed that alot of folks are coy about mentioning their "racial preferences" in their profiles... The catch is they do this indirectly without ever mentioning race as the reason you were filtered out of their considerations, but it is pretty obvious in any event.

1. Preferences are just that... preferences, and need no "reason".  If one likes straweberry or vanilla ice cream, there generally isn't a "reason" for it... it just is.  It's one's preference.

2. Nobody owes you or anyone else an explanation for "filtering" you (or anyone else) out of their search.  Get over it.

I have racial preferences, and don't hide them.    Of course some people have racial preferences that are based in racism, but I can't help that. Mine aren't. If anything  I sway on the other side, I don't find light skinned Caucasian men particularly attractive, so what? I also don't have an attraction to most black men either, I have a very distinct preference for men of Asian heritage, and Italian dark haired dark eyed men. I like what I like.... You are quite correct that it does NOT equate being a racist. .

Aynne88,
Thank you for your honesty.  I agree that you are not a racist.  Preferences do not necessarily equal racism.

i am obviously a black male.  Yet i don't find your admission that you are not attracted to black men to be offensive.

Over the years, i have had plenty of white Dommes tell me that they didn't date or play with black men.  Some did it in a way like you did, and i was cool with that.  Others have done it in a way that i must admit DID offend me.  For example, one particular Domme had a sentence at the end of her profile that simply read (in bold letters) - "NO black men!"  That offended me.  Yes, she was simply stating her preference, but all of her other preferences were things that she liked.  There was only one exclusion in her whole profile, and i was it.  She could have at least said, "No black men, or men with bad breath, or men with stinky feet".  That would have made me feel better.  [;)]

On the opposite end of the spectrum, i have gotten PLENTY of invitations from Dommes who are interested in me because i am black.  Depending on how they phrase it, that can be equally offensive.  For example, i had one Domme approach me by telling me that "She's always wanted to own a black stud with a big black cock".  She went on to expound on Her "big black cock" fantasy.  She never mentioned anything about my profile.  i don't even think She read it.  Moreover, Her point of emphasis was a clear stereotype.  Heck, my cock is a measly 10 inches.   [:D]

Finally, i've had a few black Women write to me to express their disappointment/disapproval because i am with a white Woman in my profile picture.  Frankly, i didn't mean to imply that i only wanted white Women.  i have no racial preference.  But they interpreted my picture to mean that i DID have a racial preference, and they weren't happy about it.

The bottom line is that despite the facade of political correctness, race is still an important issue in our society.  To deny this would be foolish.  But there is nothing wrong with having a preference.  After all, if we can't choose who we want to be with according to our own personal preferences, what do we have left?

I like pale white creamy skin mostly....second comes mediteranean tan on a female.

Hopefully that order of preference is allowed.

sblady -> RE: Racial Preferences - Why some people are NOT open about them (12/5/2009 6:23:22 AM)

I wanted to stay away from this thread and haven't yet read all the responses. Not sure if the OP came back to clarify how he determined race was the reason people stopped talking to him.

I was accused of using race as a precursor when I was seeking. I haven't yet figured out why people made this assumption, because trust me, I'm very honest and not at all shy about speaking my mind. I kept trying to explain that race, color, creed, age, etc., had nothing to do with my decision; compatibility did. But, of course, when people assume or get a sticking point in their minds, it falls on deaf ears.

After Sir collared me, a couple of people that made these accusations stopped talking to me; this was a bit odd as I'd been with Sir for two years. Perhaps they thought our relationship wasn't ahem real and true since I wasn't collared at the time? I can sit here and assume why I'm now met with silence, but honestly....I don't care. C'est la vie, au revoir, good luck, good riddance.
