my preference is for men 6' or taller - i'm just more comfortable with them -
but i don't think height would ever be a deciding factor for me
in an otherwise good relationship

I state in my profile that I prefer men over 6' tall....and you know what? I still get email from short men.  I'm with petiteBlonde on this one....it's just an attaction to what we like.....sure there are some exceptions for me like one posting here says Doms add 2 inches to their height..this I have found to be true..but 5'10 is ok too. Any thing less, ah-uh. I hate to feel like I can kick my guys ass~!! being short just makes me feel that way....grins......and sometimes I have.

Sorry for generalizing..but it really has been my experience here height wise.

If a man is my height and under, and I mail back to say "hey, thanks, but I am looking for someone closer..good luck" (it says so right in my profile that I have distance limitations), I immediately get nasty mails saying I am not a "true" sub, or i should be "grateful they are bothering with a fatass like you", etc.

I met 4 men from here...first meetings...profile says 5'8", 5'7", 5'7" 5'9" (I had my doc measure after the first 2 thinking I grew *lol*)..and they came up to mid nose. making them 5'4"-5'5".  So, if they would lie about something that obvious, what else would they lie about that might not be so obvious??  I wasn't taking a chance, and no furthur meetings ensued.

so I went by my own experiences.

Again, sorry for generalizing.

I've never understood people who lie about such obvious things on their profiles (unless they're setting up a fantasy profile for cybersex). I could wear lifts in my shoes and I'd still be short. Why lie about it and then be faced with the inevitable look of disappointment when we meet?

I'm a tall girl, nearly 5'8". I belong to a man who is not much taller, as he is of average height.  (5'9" is average male height in USA. Female is 5'4")
 
He is bigger, muscular, husky and strong as hell. Dominant, he is, to say the least. I have no problem feeling submissive with him, even if wearing heels. He is larger than life ;)

I don't feel power can be measured in inches.

i am tall, 5'9", and until very recently, never found a man shorter than me to be attractive.  Then i met Sir Steven.  Oy.  He's an inch shorter, and i'm getting used to trying to be "smaller" without being obvious about it.  Makes things interesting.

I don't think I would exclude someone because of height, but your right if they lied about something as insignficant as height then what else are they lying about? However I'm 5'3 and there something to be said for a Master who is taller than I leaning down and whispering a command in my ear.

I am 5'10", and love the fact that my Master is about 6'2".  Being able to look up at Him is so yummy.  I was always the tallest girl in class, and all of the men in my family are tall, so tall men are my preference.  Another preference of mine is nice, big, solid men.  I have been with leaner men, but found that I much prefer having a nice big teddy bear of a man to hold onto.  I feel very feminine and "girlie" next to Master who is big and tall and such a "presence."  It's nice to have the One I love "fit the bill" in all the ways that are important to me, from our beginning vanilla friendship to the wonderful love we share together now.

The general consensus here seems to be that TALL GUYS RULE. Even though BDSM is out of the mainstream, its participants hold traditional tastes in men (heightwise).

Have I turned down people based on height alone? Sure. I'm 5'11 in bare feet and I love to wear my heels. Early on in the lifestyle, I met a Dom who was 5'6" and quite frankly, my height made things difficult for me. My Dominant and I are fairly equal in height *he's 6'* so that even when I wear my heels, it isn't awkward. For me, it's kind of hard to get into a place of feeling like his 'little one' when I'm towering over him by a good half a foot or more. As Daddysredhead said, I've always been the tallest in my class until the last two years in high school when the guys started catching up with me...so I've been there and done that with guys who are shorter than me, and it just doesn't work, at least not for getting me into the place I like to be in.

I am 6'6".  In Dom/sub relationships it seems to be a plus. In the world of vanilla there is a subset of women, I have noticed, who are inately drawn to the heighth.
When they aproached they start with "How tall are you?" I answer "The average heighth of a real Man." 
another group who want men but fear Men's dominion want a man about thier size or at least not to tall.

Heighth is a factor included in MANY women's perception base.
I've done a lifetime of research on this, on a daily basis.

At 5 pages of responces to this inocuous question, I think we can confirm many people have an opinion.

But I cannot chance a cultral bias. I have been with men who are shorter then I, and taller then I. I dont really see much of a difference accept for how much of a tippy toe I need to reach they're face or lack they're of  for a kiss.

I don't think most cultural normalecy is in favor of a women who is over a foot and a half shorter then a man. Were the man's hair is longer then the women's and they are both deaf.  A lot of people find it quite odd.

I dont care what a guys height is and I would not turn him down because of it.  I am very short myself (4"10).  My current bf is (5"10) and he towers over me.  I really do prefer guys that are more on the taller side.  But if a short guys wanted to go out with me I would not turn him down.

i'm 5'10" in stocking feet, and i used to think that it was absolutely necessary for my Doms to be taller than me.  admittedly, a physical presence is something that lends itself heavily to intimidation, but, it's certainly not the only element that lends itself to an impression.  my last 2 Doms were shorter than myself, and quite honestly, they were the best teachers i've had... a large part of my submission is psychological, therefor most of my active seeking is for someone who can top me mentally, as opposed to physically.
