In fact, that power is limited as well, and that's as it should be. But it's not at all out of line for party leaders to use committee assignments, etc. to reward or punish members for how they do their jobs. That's just politics. It's a tough business, and I very much look forward to the day the Democratic leadership decides they can finally afford to cut Lieberman's worthless balls off at high noon on the steps of the US Capitol.

The Dems would still like Joe. Arlen Spector has shown that he has no balls and the Dems love him.

That's bull, George Bush and the Republicans do it all the time. How do you think Republicans continue to vote in a unified block all the time? Cripes, have you forgotten Tom DeLay? He was the nastiest SOB that ever worked in the Congress, wheeling and dealing all the time.

Obama had better do something about this cockroach, Lieberman, that's all I have to say otherwise people are going to be really pissed off with Lieberman AND Obama.

Why is Leiberman Obama's problem? I thought he was meant to be an independent?

Lieberman was the Democratic Senator from Connecticut until defeated in a Primary election by a Liberal Democrat with the backing of the ultra liberal wing of the National Democratic Party... the bloggers especially and Moveon.Org. Effectively, he was dislodged from the Party although their sitting Senator. Quite an immense and unimaginable affront!

Lieberman ran and won in the General election as an Independent (not a Party affiliation) beating the Republican (if there was one) and the chosen one of the Dem Liberals.

Now Lieberman is getting his revenge served cold against the Democrats who ousted him but still allow him in their Senate caucus. Ironically, Obama supported Lieberman and is now caught in the crossfire of a driveby shooting U.S. Senate style. You thought this was about healthcare? Oh, no no no! Political revenge and intrigue to match Macbeth.

Thank you for clearing that up. These people know how to bear a grudge, don't they?

They smile...... but they never forget. Each Senate seat is a fiefdom. They guard their powers and interests with great jealousy and patronage. Ya just don't fuck with these boys and girls..... There are only two from each State. So, the two from a small state such as Maine may have as much infuence as the two from California or the two from New York.

Glad to help.

Vincent

How did that song by Neil Young go..."Clueless clueless clue clueless" I think? If JL follows through on defeating any bill with a public option or that expand Medicare, he's ensured his political future.

You're so vain, you probably think that song's about you...
