When one gets collared...does their Master/Dom purchase the collar?

In my experience yes. To me, it would be like buying my own wedding ring or something, i personally wouldn't like that.

I did  actually go alone to get our wedding rings. We are divorced now.. Should have seen the red flags..

My Man designed my collar, it is one of a kind, we have a close friend that is a jeweler, it is a gold pendant in the shape of the Maine coast where we live and he had a large diamond placed in the city of my birth. It hangs from a large gold round style omega neckpiece and is "vanilla" enough for daily wear, besides it is so gorgeous I don't want to take it off except to clean it. The back is engraved with the words "Always Protected". I love it~ And of course Him.

I"ve both bought them and made them for the sub. I've also ask their advice every time. You have to admit besides the practical side of the materials that I understand better, most subs have a better ideal what they can show in public than I might..lol.what does it matter who buys it..as long as it means something to the both..and both agreed it was time to have/use one in the relationship.

this has gone both ways here actually. my slave has gone through many stainless, and cheap nickle plate collars. in sept i bought a titanium collar for my slave and it is very happy with it, and so am i.

Personally, more because I'm a crafty DIY person with a good amount of leatherwork experience and an art degree, I would design and handmake the collar for my slave. More than one, depending on the situation. Collars for in the house vs. outside, different heights for how good the slave has been, etc.

Maybe even a special occasion one for the collaring ceremony, like a wedding dress it would be menat to be worn once and then put up.

when my MASTER gave me my collar he picked it out he placed it on me and its been on me every since he is the only one that will remove it from me and if it comes off i have a bracelet that is worn with a lock that he can only release it is my wedding ring stays on and yes your MASTER should be the one to buy for his slave.
