what a stupid clause.   future congresses would  be "out of order" if repealing or changing the law.  WTF.

It sounds a little odd, but what sorts of precedents are there?

I'm calling BS, not on you but on them. They simply can't make something unrepealable. A future congress has all the authority of the present congress and could just make it repealable.

Its the standard definition in economics.
I may be wrong, but I think the term was used in the sense of "Public interest" or "public well-being", not the economic sense of a good as a commodity. Otherwise, the original statement makes very little sense. And if I am wrong about that, then Wilbeur is 100% correct as to the definition in economic terms.

Health care reform is, at its core, an economic discussion. To use the term in any other way would be nonsensical.

If you don't think there is a hidden agenda, that language alone should make you start to reconsider

Hmmm. If it takes a 2/3 vote to change a Senate rule and the poison clause is a change to a Senate rule, why doesnt it take 2/3 to pass a bill that includes a change to a Senate rule?
