I personally loved Jeffery Hunter... he was the very first Captain of the Enterprise... Episode 1 and 2. And then William Shatner was brought in.

For those that do not remember... Jeffery Hunter played Captain Christopher Pike.

Who do you think was the best star ship Enterprise captian... James T. Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard?

Kirk if the Federation is at war; Picard during peacetime.

The best female starship captain EVER would be Zoe Washburne.

Ah, yes! I had those on an old VHS tape. The reason they changed things was that Pike was not as palatable to the viewing audience and the female crew members were not sexy enough. Enter Bill Shatner as a bit of a romantic and mini-skirts and boots for the gals.
quote:

Original Gauge: This isn't a fair question if you think about it. Star Trek was way before it's time and Kirk was a great captain for that time. The show had an obvious formula to it... They go to a planet. The guy wearing the red shirt would die. Kirk would get the woman. Spock and the others would figure out what was wrong and how to fix it. They fix it. The woman Kirk is in love with either dies or is left behind. Final scene on the bridge yucking it up... fade to black.

You made My day, Gauge! So true, and I still love the series too! Pure escape, and some very interesting premises for storylines.

LOL! Call us what you will, Aileen!
I was actually surprised to see how many people answered this, even in depth, mentioning various characters and storylines. It has been a delightful break to see so many Star Trek fans come out of the closet. *Wink*

Well technically then we can add Khan to the list to as he took over the ship in the _Space seeds_ episode that introduced the coolest Trek villian ever.

I bet if she did have one of the uniforms she would look hot in it.

Anyone wanna bet on whether or not celeste has at least one trekkie uniform/costume and goes to the conventions?

If Janeway is out then Piccard by all means. He was more 'in command' and in control.

Oh BTW you could also add Warf as commander as well as Data as both were left in command of the Enterprise on at least one ocasion

Then you'd have to add in Deanna Troi and Dr. Crusher as well.. and then there's the time in Naked Now when Wesley was in complete control! lol Dr. Morarity, Barkley and others had, at one time or another, complete control of systems.. but, they were never Captain .. the best was acting captain or, in some cases.. Pirate! Yar har har.

Celeste

P.S. It's not Warf.. it's WORF!

Ha! I don't have a full uniform, but I do collect T-shirts whenever I visit a space station. My favorite is from Quarks. And, I don't 'just' attend Trek conventions.. any Sci-fi con is doable. ;)

actually, with "Enterprise" coming onto the scene, that makes Jonathan Archer the very first Captain of the Enterprise.

Most people would be slack jawed at your query... I guess there are people that have never seen Star Trek before.

Google is your friend.
