A quote by Kurt Kobain may not be a good thing. But thats just me. Not the role model I would choose.

If this is in the wrong section just let me know:)

I got a message the other day that said that I came across as very angry and bitter in my profile, which is worded the way it is to discourage people from trying to contact me who are just looking for wank fodder, and  I wanted to get some opinions about it. Do I come off as bitchy angry or bitter in my profile? Any tips on how to fix it if I do?

Just a fast reply.

Your profile mentions that you are content in your current relationship.  That being the case, I am confused as to why you are concerned with what other people think of your profile.

Someone had mentioned I come off as an angry individual, I don't like to give the wrong impression even if I am only seeking friends I still like to make a decent impression

I am always changing my profile around or adding to it when I think of something, the quote from Trainspotting is just something I liked from the book, and the quote by Kurt Cobain is something that I wish I had said, as I relate to it.

I appreciate all of the feedback, and will keep the suggestions in mind next time I am fiddling with it:)

Not that I am aware of. I have been meaning to change it to match my profile picture but keep forgetting. Thanks for bringing it up.

I found nothing offensive in your profile. The point that you aren't looking for someone has nothing to do with why someone would would fly into a hissy fit and accuse a complete stranger of being bitchy angry or bitter. Lots of people on this site will write you random hate mails for no reason whatsoever. The holidays are a much more likely time to get that sort of letter than other times--given how stressed and unhappy they make people.

Try to get used to the random drive-by shootings that occur in email. They always happen here, to almost everyone, even people with the most innoculous and unoffensive of profiles. Someone in a terrible mood will always lay into you, and it's totally them, not you. But generally speaking, the more you write in your profile, the more open you are, the more various crackpots will find to hate about you and feel compelled to tell you about their hate. The alternative, writing some stupid short inoffensive profile that doesn't reflect yourself, is certainly not worth it, as it won't attract the people you do want to connect with.

With that said, since some of the people here commented on the quote/manifesto, I suspect it's the thing that if anything in your profile is likely to push buttons, it will push the most. I would definitely not take it down. I would put it in quotation marks, however, to let others know you did not write it yourself although you support it, and maybe even write the the source of the quote underneath it. That would eliminate a little confusion in those reading the profile who did not know the source of the quote.

So many have said it all, but I'll throw my pennies in: Your profile looks fine. What do you care that some random ass shot and ran away, like a coward? It's your profile, your experience here. Do what you will with it.

Wondering if the penguins have anything to do with B. May (guitarist extraordinaire) or the king in "Black Adder"? (Or, if you just like penguins because...)

i would there is little wank fodder in your profile (little, not none, because some people can wank over anything!).  You do not come accross as bitter but justifiably guarded perhaps.
The uestion i would ask you is "does your profile do th ejob you want?" Maybe you should paste it into another document, pretend to be a.n.other and read it to see how it makes you feel.  For own part i was interested in some aspects of what you said and felt like emailing to discuss it, perhaps to become a friend - within the limits you describe.
