ORIGINAL: Invisigoth0o If this is in the wrong section just let me know:) I got a message the other day that said that I came across as very angry and bitter in my profile, which is worded the way it is to discourage people from trying to contact me who are just looking for wank fodder, and I wanted to get some opinions about it. Do I come off as bitchy angry or bitter in my profile? Any tips on how to fix it if I do? I found nothing offensive in your profile. The point that you aren't looking for someone has nothing to do with why someone would would fly into a hissy fit and accuse a complete stranger of being bitchy angry or bitter. Lots of people on this site will write you random hate mails for no reason whatsoever. The holidays are a much more likely time to get that sort of letter than other times--given how stressed and unhappy they make people. Try to get used to the random drive-by shootings that occur in email. They always happen here, to almost everyone, even people with the most innoculous and unoffensive of profiles. Someone in a terrible mood will always lay into you, and it's totally them, not you. But generally speaking, the more you write in your profile, the more open you are, the more various crackpots will find to hate about you and feel compelled to tell you about their hate. The alternative, writing some stupid short inoffensive profile that doesn't reflect yourself, is certainly not worth it, as it won't attract the people you do want to connect with. With that said, since some of the people here commented on the quote/manifesto, I suspect it's the thing that if anything in your profile is likely to push buttons, it will push the most. I would definitely not take it down. I would put it in quotation marks, however, to let others know you did not write it yourself although you support it, and maybe even write the the source of the quote underneath it. That would eliminate a little confusion in those reading the profile who did not know the source of the quote.
