When I think of offbeat/unusual/whacked out/messed up movies, I think of David Lynch.  Eraserhead and Mullholland Dr. are definitely offbeat and unusual.

Has anyone ever seen The Fantastic Planet?  It is an animated scifi film from Czechoslovakia...made in the 70s.  I saw it on late night tv several years ago and it was really unusual and whacked out.

Another 70s film that fits these adjectives is Blood Sucking Freaks...whacked out and really, really messed up.

not sure of thsi will count but the most wacked out movie i ever saw was Dr.Giggles with Kiledar when i was about 6 months pregant with Our frist child. seeing a kid cut himself out of his dead mothers body made me pull my feet up in my seat ( as best as i could seeing as i was HUGE) and not able to leave the theather till the movie was over. and made me scared that i would have to have a C-section.

another wacked out movie i saw was Mirror Mirror. ask Kiledar about what i did on that one lol

The most messed up movie I've ever seen was "Manos; the Hands of Fate"

I love bad movies, but after watching Manos (the non-MST3K) version at that, I wasn't sure if I still wanted to live.

I laughed when i saw "Eraserhead" on this list..because long ago it used to be MY number one wacked out movie.

3 movies have bumped it lower on the list in the past few years.

1. Artificial Intelligence
2. Butterfly Effect
3. Vulgar

oh and hello....insomnia has brought me here for a visit...thanks for letting me play a turn:)

okay  picture this.  A woman goes in for a strange growth on her back.  When they look into it  its a fetus.  but not just any soon to be baby  its an evil witch doctor that is always born on some other part of the woman then the normal place.  Now when the baby rips out of the mommy low and behold it looks like a short short old man (hmmmm just like the way most babies do look right after birth before cleaning)  I cant remember the rest but when your a ten year old kid still steeped in the Catholic religion (shivers) it scares the crap out of you.  the name of the movie...... Manitou

Terminator - ok, John Connor sends a soldier back to protect his mother who ends up sleeping with the solder. She's then pregnant with John Connor. Truly bizarre. John Connor sends his would be dad who isn't his dad yet but how did John Connor come to be in the first place?!?!

Cabin Fever - This movie only messed with my head because you normally think bottled water is better for you. HA

The subtitled Japanese movie Tampopo is the strangest movie I have ever seen with Brazil and American Psycho being tied for second place.

There is a troma team  release called " Cannibal! The Musical".  I was a teenager when I saw it, and never been one to watch the same movie twice unless its realy good. 1-10 it has to be an 11.  it would make a great cult classic...

It takes place in Colorado territory, this guy has a horse  he loves  that gets stolen, then he joins a team of prospectors  and leads them to believe he knows the way to  where ever the fuck they're going and only to find out that he's following the trail of the men that stole his horse... coupled with hella cheesy songs although catchy, I think the cyclops will catch your hearts and minds.. who'd of thunk a cyclops could be in a movie thats not about cyclops and fit...

I remember that movie, but that sits in my "B movie" file.   Only a couple of movies made me shake my head at the end.   The best is "Monster's Ball".

I have seen it a couple of times. I really enjoyed the film. Sadly, I know it would bore my wife to tears, so haven't rented it for her.

Yeah, I remember that one... I saw it late one night as a kid. I didn't sleep for a week.
