I hear the word "training" being thrown about on folks profiles.; training collars, in training, looking to be trained

...but what exactly is training? To me it's been educating a girl on what behaviors are acceptable, and essentially what to do, and not to do

But I've also seen profiles where girls have claimed thier training is complete, and ready for thier  new/next/real owner

so I have to ask when you hear "training" what come to your mind?

Either the concept is interpersonal and specific to a particular D-type's directing of the s-type towards Hir desired ends or its a process of learning the etiquette structures of certain BDSM sub-cultures (Old Guard, Leather, Gor) although even those will likely vary slightly depending on the group.

training is catering to her fantasy that she's learning something difficult and requires lots of spankings

Despite the many good things it can be, 90% of the time I've found it to be a word for "Hey, let's have a NSA BDSM hook-up."

I feel like this is deja vu, didn't we just have almost this same topic less than a month ago?

Along with "punishment", "training" is probably the most misused word in the lifestyle.

In a nutshell, when I train my girl, I'm simply teaching her the things I like and the things I don't and holding her accountable for getting it right.

Such things can be the house rules; how I like her to dress and groom etc; how to recognise the difference between when I'm her friend and partner and when I'm her boss and owner; how I like my coffee to how I want my dick sucked - and about a few thousand other trifles, too....

Since it's all highly personal and often intimate, there's no such thing as general training, esp with online strangers, and there's no such thing as "fully trained". And there sure as hell isn't *anyone* out there who can train a sub for MY needs; it can only be done by me...!

Focus.

So what?

All lifestyle subject matter is constant and thus subject to deja vus for someone. Try to remember it's not just about you; that there's always someone new to it all - just as there obviously was last month and will be next month.

Focus.

For us it's simply doing things the way he likes them done. I wouldn't call it training in our case. I'd call it learning and remembering his preferences.
He does want me to learn different types of massages. So that would probably fall under the concept of training. Or close to it.

When a Dom or Domme teaches their slave or sub how they want things done or how they want to use their property it often is called training...
sometimes in a sort of pompous way and maybe not appreciated by the sub at all.

When a sub or slave tells or tries to teach their Dom or Domme how they would like things done or how they would like to serve, then is often called manipulation or topping from the bottom.... often not much appreciated by the Dominant

Other people might think of training as something red hot... as in training a sub to take it up the ass... or have a slave preform pony tricks... making the 'training' into a very sexy game
Also a slave or sub can politely ask for anything they want or beg very heartfelt.
These types of 'training' are usually much enjoyed by both.

Other people think it simply all comes down to communication
it really just means teaching and learning something

This may or may not be relevant, but some of those 'fully trained' subs are often followed up by a request for money to pay their 'master' for the 'training' they have had.

If I were saying it, I would be talking about learning to bypass my ego, so that his directive becomes my first priority.

I wouldn’t assume others were using it in the same manner; I would have to ask them what they meant by it, individually.

In my eyes there are different kinds of training.  There is general training, as to those "standards" in the lifestyle, how to treat other "lifestylers" at munches/parties/etc.  Learning about the various different activities and terms, etc.  More of an educational training and experimentation.

Then there is training to strip away the "safety nets" and defensive responses that are built in from years of vanilla relationships, broken hearts, taught behaviors, etc.  Training a submissive to let go, and trust that their Dominant will catch them.  Being trained to find pleasure in tasks that are not necessarily pleasurable in the vanilla world.  Changes in the thought processes (i.e. waking up and thinking "I wonder what Mistress would want me to do today" as opposed to "I wonder what I will chose to do today").  I guess in a nut shell, this is emotional training.

And of course, personal training.  Training the submissive to massage my feet just as I enjoy it, to cook the meals I wish, present themselves in the way I find most appealing, anticipate my needs, things I enjoy, and over all how to please me, communicate with me and address me.  This is also the category in which I would put things like anal stretching, corset training, etc, if it were being done because the Dominant wished it.

And of course, as with all things, this is just my view on the world.  I'm sure someone will dissagree.  :)

Miss Jenn

There are several definitions of training.

1. Learning to do things how a Dom/me wants, as many above say.
2. A ruse used by wannabe Doms to get a woman to sub to them, NSA, as WestBaySlave says
3. A hallmark of a fake sub who will ask for money, as ster says.

If someone states that their training is complete, that's a fake profile.
