Thorny, dear, you won't notice the farts for all the fine cigar smoke.

Just keep sucking and slurping. We have it all under control.

As to those who think asking how our day went and think that is conversation, put this on you refrigeramater doors. "It went pretty much like yesterday, bitch " !

Yes and they should be baked with carrots, upon preparing to eat you mash up the potatoes and carrots together.  That's how tacky people in Pennsy roll.

Jeffff -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 7:15:05 PM)

Please, do not defile my potatos with carrots.

icky.

Jeff

Yea well someone forgot the damn Brussels sprouts.

thornhappy -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 7:20:31 PM)

We're tacky the same way in Ohio...potatoes must be roasted with the carrots, the better to play with.

Like it, good stuff

Llyren -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 7:38:53 PM)

Mmm.. pot roast with roasted potatoes, onions, and carrots, with lots of gravy.   I add whole cloves of garlic to mine, and some red wine or dark beer, depending upon my mood or what I have available.

But I think the weather calls for my ultra cheesy homemade lasagna.

UniqueRaven -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 7:44:01 PM)

For me, in this weather:

Homemade macaroni and cheese.  Butter, cheese, heavy cream, baked, with real buttered bread crumbs on top.....

Yumz.

ETA:  This doesn't start with the letter "P", so not sure it passes the Jeffwey Palate......

Llyren -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 7:51:54 PM)

My favourite mac & cheese recipe is from one of John Thorne's books.  And it doesn't contain a white sauce at all.  It's pasta, cheese, more cheese, seasonings, and a can of condensed milk.

Valyraen -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 8:27:52 PM)

I am so bloody jealous of you cheese-eating people that my hair's turning green...

All seriousness there. Being allergic to milk is a pain in mine and several others' asses.

DemonKia -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/5/2010 10:25:23 PM)

I hear ya, Valyraen -- aged cheese & American cheese give me migraines, an awful price to pay for creamy deliciousness . . . . . .

Mmmmmmm, pot roast, tho' . .. . . I haven't made one in a long time, that sounds like such a good idea . .. . .

We've got this big pork roast in the freezer. Lightly oil the bottom of a large roasting pan (with lid). Layer the bottom with thickly sliced red onions, several slices deep. Gently place the thawed chunk o' meat on the onions, surround with quartered & peeled sweet potatoes & yams, & parsnips & turnips & carrots. Set the oven to a fairly low heat, 300 F or thereabouts. Cook until a carving fork slides effortlessly thru the flesh, which pulls apart easily . .. . . . Some like to braise the roast first, but it's not necessary for me.

Yeah, good thinkin', Jeff, pot roast . .. . . .

Really! For all you whine ill mannered girls who can't find a man.  Try Pot Roast!............ the potato's should be mashed.  Don't ask us about our day while we are eating it.  I hope this helps.

No, Jeff, sadly, it does not.  I've been trying to win them over with food since I was old enough to strike a match to light the gas stove.

Pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy.
A nice meaty lasagne with garlic bread and homemade canoli for dessert.
Enchiladas with tortillas that I made myself, the old-fashioned way, and fried ice cream.
Chicken cordon bleu, roasted asparagus, lemon ice.
Eggs, biscuits, sausage cream gravy.
Light-as-a-feather pancakes, a selection of homemade fruit sauces, various breakfast meats.
Polska kielbasa with carmelized onions, twice-baked potatoes, apple spice cake.
Chili and cornbread.
Chicken and sausage gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee.
Tiramisu, chocolate eclairs, truffles, trifles, cakes, pies, tortes, fudge.
Cinnamon rolls that will put you into a happy coma.

Girly, that's what I thought about all this cheesey, creamy LACTOSE laden stuff.  Ohhh gosh ... just punch me in the stomach and be done with it!

YES!!!!!!!!!!

Mashed potatoes with a pot roast are a travesty.

KMsAngel -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/6/2010 4:24:33 AM)

See, Jeffff, alotta the subbies just don't grasp the concept. They start nattering on about mac n cheese n such and hijack a perfectly good thread which is meant to be helpful to them re expressing their submission by serving up a goddam Pot Roast.

Simple critters that they are, they just don't get it. Sigh

persephonee -> RE: Pot Roast and the art of submission (1/6/2010 4:38:04 AM)
