Awww! She's beautiful also... she's a mackerel tabby. I've been doing a lot of research because of Cyrus' markings, and it's quite interesting, really... domestic cats all descend from the little African wildcat.

The double-claw thing is fascinating too. I've been wondering about that trait, but even the vets are useless. Do you know anything about it?

I guess it's obvious we love cats, we both make reference to them in our names! As far as the Polydactyl stuff goes, I was once told by my vet that it had to do with inbreeding...but I don't know for sure. Ernest Hemingway had a whole bunch of them at his place in Key West, you can still go there and see the colony of them!

Status: offline 		Oh, and BTW, I actually have a total of 8 that I claim, and Bast only knows how many feral ones I'm feeding! At last count, I'm up to about 6.

I will have to move fairly soon, and I need to find good homes for 3 of the kitties that I have accidentally adopted. If anyone in the Southwest wants one, please let me know! I have a Siamese mix named Ysabella, she's so beautiful, but a bit skittish. However, as long as you get on a bed, she will come right up to be loved...the bed is her "safe place".

Then there is Zipper, a fellow who I tried to help about two years ago abandoned him at my place...that's a whole epic tale right there! Zipper was raised by a man, and so he responds best to men.

If you have an outdoorsy sort of property, and need an excellent hunter, I've got Little Boy, an all-black shorthair who still has the family jewels intact. He likes to be free to roam, but he loves his lovin'! He likes men best. I rescued him from a dumpster in New Mexico.

Contact me on the otherside if you want to adopt one!

Status: offline 		Youre all amateurs at this mad cat lady thing; I have nine cats plus one adoptee, seven boys and three girls.

We have Pepper (the matriarch), Bubble The Bear (her nephew), Squeak The Lion (also her nephew) and Lucky Lucky (the adoptee, and maybe related we dont know), all black and white.

We have Lepddy (Pepper's niece), Timmy Tiger (her son), Cookie (another son) and Fudge (her little brother), all stripy and spotty genetic throwbacks to the original African model and often mistaken for pedigrees.

We have Charlie (Lepddy's little brother) who is white with a few black splashes (ideal for the snow).

And we have Dinky (Lepddy's daughter) who is the most amazing looking cat ever; grey with ginger streaks.

The variety, considering theyre all descended from two black and white ladies, is amazing. And the variety in character, considering their common descent and common environment, is really interesting. We have cats bordering on the wild and others as daftly tame as you'd like, and a spectrum in between.

Meet Viktor Petrovsky.  Yes, I gave him a last name.  Cuz I'm a dork like that.  He is a year & a half, the first cat I've had, and...well...we rescued each other, actually.  He is my love and joy AND a snuggle-bug at that.  He sleeps curled up at my tummy at night, until around 4AM when he decides it's play time. 

Like KittenSol, I could talk about him forever...

First time uploading pics in a post so here goes:







This image came out kind of small so it's hard to see, but he has one blue eye and one golden eye.

Status: offline 		NuevaVida..........do not feel weird for giving your cat a last name. The dog with the huge ears has a first, middle and last........Sophia Marie (my last name). So that when she is in trouble, which is frequent, she can get properly scolded.

Status: offline 		looks like my Charlie! also did you see a cat like Pixie/Charlie won the recent contest for a new face for some cat food? Charlie was most impressed and is now booked with one of those celebrity looky-likey agencies.

Bout time one of them got a job I think, though they all assure me they are fully employed catching mice and rats; "after all" they say "have you seen any round here lately?"

they are awesome. Even the one that weighs 40 pounds.

i am very grateful they allow us to live with them
