NakedOnMyChain -> Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 1:38:45 PM)

Did anyone else get to watch President Bush's press conference this morning?  He actually made it through the whole thing with only one blatantly ignorant comment (I'm not going to bring up the ten million subtle idiocies).  When asked about the upcoming senate elections he said, "You all keep trying to get me to talk about the polls.  I don't pay any attention to polls."  Smart, Dubyah.  Smart.
However, compared to his normal duck and cover press tactics I'd say he did a fair job (for him).  He actually answered some questions directly instead of skirting about them like precariously placed landmines.  I'm not pleased about his definitive answer that "he'd stay in Iraq as long as it takes.  Until the job is done," but hell, at least he formed an entire sentence without stuttering and drooling on himself.  If you caught the conference, what were your opinions?

mnottertail -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 1:46:55 PM)

he cares (or his trainers care) about the polls otherwise they wouldn't put this out for consumption.

The answering of any question without slobbering you can be sure was orchestrated by his spinners, and had their desired effect.

People all over the nation are going 'well, at least he didn't........'  this is the road to recovery, they bet (with odds in their favor) that people in america have to short an attention span to remember the bad times........

In the end, he has nought but to wonder how history will treat him...... He is gearing for that. Aspiring to mediocrity, I suppose.  He will have a hell of a wall to climb.

since there hasn't been an intelligent president since Kennedy, i don't bother watching these "speaches". i haven't believed any of the past presidents, why should this one be any different. Politians are all liars and deceivers...not to be trusted.

I know plenty of intelligent scumbags...

michaelGA -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 2:11:28 PM)

well, that may be true, but i've exercised my right NOT to vote since there hasn't been a single solitary candidate in the past 20 years that were worth voting for...i'm not goona be responsible for voting in a jackass...LOL

stef -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 2:22:04 PM)

No, you're just responsibile for keeping a jackass in office.  That's *much* better.

If you think by not voting you're somehow absolving yourself of the responsibility for the mess that's currently referred to as our government, you're only kidding yourself.  If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

michaelGA -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 2:25:37 PM)

like i said before, there wasn't ANY candidate worth voting for...so...no matter who i would or could have voted for...NONE were worthy...there was NO options for president...i refuse to vote for idiots...and that's all that ever runs.

"Untill the job is done"

I like that concept. It's the reason why WWII is praised so much. We got the job done. It's also why not many complain about Desert Storm. It was one objective and we got the job done. Everyone was glad when we stoped the Russians from taking over Afganistan. That was the objective and we got the job done. Korea and Vietnam on the other hand continuously get critized by everyone. Why? Because we didn't get the job done. All that blood shed and cost was all spent for nothing. When you start something, it's best to finsih it. So let's "Get R Done"

Please state your "objective victory conditions" for the War on Terror.  If we are going to wait until there are no more terrorists we have a long wait ahead.  Like the poor, it is likely the terrorist you will always have with you.

I was working and didn't get to hear him. Did anyone ask him how will we know the "job is done"? I posted this in the Iraq thread. Without a Tokyo or Berlin to raise a victory flag, what will indicated to us and the world that "we won"?

I did see a picture of President Bush at the conference on Drudge's website. What I got from that is a permanent picture in my mind of what "stubborn" looks like. Now when someone accuses me of being stubborn I'll be picturing that in my head and hope I've left some room for compromise.

LOL.  Uh oh.  I hope I don't look like that.

In answer to your question, no.  No one asked him how we will know when the job is done.  They might have tried, but he cut the conference off almost directly after that.

On a side note, I just love how he laughed at the reporter who asked him what his reaction was to public opinion that he needs to make some changes in staff (Rumsfeld in particular, but other senior advisers where touched upon).  Yeah, I'm laying the sarcasm on thick.

I agree Stef.... by not voting... you're helping to keep most assholes in office.

And really Michael.. for one who doesn't vote... I really think it screwed up that you would even comment on a thread like this. What possible arguement could you have? You didn't vote for.. or against. So there for anything happen really shouldn't be of any concern to you.

But then again... hell.. Bush wasn't elected first time or 2nd time. So apparently.. this time around.. it doesn't really matter now does it?

Maybe when the threat from Islamofascists is as small as the threat from Japanese Imperialists is today.

No, what we have is a lot of necessary work ahead. Against the terrorists and for the poor. And unlike the poor, we haven't always had terrorists with us, which means there's a lot more hope in that area.

I am ......(there is no word to attribute this level of puzzlement)...
How can that statement possibly be construed as having anything nearing at least a wispy grasp of truth?  I mean I am trying here.

Ron, you take all the time you need.

No, don't rush it -- just take it slow.

JohnSteed1967 -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 7:58:44 PM)

Bush and his Whole Family are EVIL, His grandfather and greatgrandfather were both arrested by FDR's Administration for trading with the Enemy. They were the money men behind Nazi Germany and Hitler! There is proof that George Sr. was tied in with the Bay of Pigs invasion and the murder of JFK, as well as proof that he was tied in with a child sex ring!

and we have put this Demon- Spawn in the White House!

mnottertail -> RE: Bush's Press Conference (3/21/2006 8:08:08 PM)

Let me quicken the pace, then; since things of such nature seem to be inheirently obvious.........

SLA
PLO
HAMAS
Ton Ton Macutes
Hyksos
Vik
Andreas Bader
Ulricka Meinhof
Zionism from time immemorial
The invasion if Iraq

The CIA
The KGB
Mossad

No particular order, but some in fairly deeply recorded history, and certainly not an exhaustive account........

But I didn't need any time.  Regardless of the position, pro or con in these debates, it will usually be solicited (by general understanding if not by outright demand) that a defence by platitude or euphamism should contain more lemma than conjecture.  Otherwise, by simple contrapositives as just evidenced, your entire argument is null and void, and may dismiss anything cogent  that may have even the least merit.

Ergo. Id est! Responde!

John, I see this is your first post, so I want to welcome you to the message boards. And, if I may say so, you show all the makings of one of the wisest, most clear-headed intellects we have here on the subject of politics. In fact, your post has more wisdom jam-packed in it than most of the contributions I've seen on these boards. I hope others learn. Please continue to instruct these fools on how to rip the mask off the conspiracy! So little time and so many Bushes!!
