Being a scammer is, being Nigerian isn't. When I get these emails I do as Mod 7 stated and I report them...after that I have no idea what happens because I don't view that email or profile ever again. Just as a do with the cock pics....I report the pic, hide them so they won't pop up again, and after that not much I can do.

Not saying that only major problems should be fixed, but on a site like this, and it being free....other than if someone post pics of um's, what is really major?

As far as scams, they do post a warning at the top of every email, and as they say they can't be every where, so it's up to us to report it, and move on. You don't know what they do behind the scenes...maybe they have watch list and just have to gather enough info to hang these guys....after all, again, it's free...so jumping up banning someone just because they are in a certain country could get them in all kinds of trouble.

In the grand scheme of things these are only annoyances, especially to someone as yourself that is obviously intelligent, so basically, don't sweat the small stuff.

But if it really bothers you, your best bet is to get in touch with the ones who run the site....they can explain their process way better than we can....and who knows, as I said, they might do a whole bunch of stuff behind the scenes that we don't even know about

Mostly we're amused at how much control you wanna dictate over a free website. There are ones that charge, plenty of sites, actually, of both the kink & vanilla dating persuasions. It would make so much more sense to go pay & rant there, where at least you can make the argument that you're paying. Here, it just makes you look like you have potentially problematic expectation issues, which bodes poorly, in my not-so-humble, for what kinds of expectations you might bring to a relationship.

If using the hide button is too much to ask of you, well, that's even more amusing . . . .

I used the report button last week. I saw a new profile come up when I logged in and started reading. My thoughts went something like this:
Eh, quite an attitude.
Damn, pretty obnoxious.
Whew, better him than me.
First anti-TOS activity...4-legged.
Second anti-TOS activity...possibly psychopathic/homicidal

The second activity is the one that set off the alarm bells. In combination with the first, I hit report.

It was gone in 24 hours.

I'm remarkably ok with this because what you want requires people who are being paid for their time. All new profiles would have be approved and they'd have to go through ALL previously made profiles AND all updated profiles. Do you know how many active profiles there are on CM?

I can't afford to pay for CM and the fact these guys do what they do out of love for the site... I'm not complaining. If you report the profile, they'll look into it. Otherwise, you get what you pay for.

Having more than a few moderators gets very messy, very time consuming and even more political backstabbing bullshit than most of the fora put together.
I ran a board for three years and only after I added more than two mods was there any trouble.
This site is obviously much huger than mine was but the problems will still be there.
I have to admit, I never look at profiles unless someone writes a post on here.

The complaints that are voiced about scam related discussion threads.

OP, I think we have a much different perception about the whole thing. I report one, maybe two profiles a week. They are generally of the Nigerian variety. In fact, the 'view common scams' page has a specific category for these folks. I have not seen any return to Me under the same screen name again. (Unless I am mistaken, you can divert all mail from other countries to your bulk folder.)

In truth, I'm not bothered one bit by female profiles. Being straight, I honestly don't care one way or the other how many fake female profiles this site has. It doesn't effect Me in the least.

However, of late, the number of threads to complain about the topic are here just about every day. They really don't have a thing to do with BDSM or authority dynamic discussions, which is what I'm here for. I would much rather see those threads pulled than give any concern to why they originate.

I'm indifferent to the fake/real argument, it makes no fucking difference unless you want it to or are stupid enough to get taken in (which is gonna happen anywhere ye go if you're stupid).
What "the purposes intended" by the site means ... is subject to debate, my (current) profile was created so I could visit here to keep an eye on a few "real" arseholes for MY reasons, as well as, have a laugh with and take the piss out of friends and folk that tune in (and vice verca) ... though there's plenty who don't (mostly non "English" speaking US regulars).
Would this mean that YOU would moderate MY profile, should you get the job ? (or in your opinion do I fit in to "the purposes intended" ?)
I'm easy to contact ... feel free to give me a shout elsewhere if you think it better.

Anyone who wants to view my profile is welcome ... I left off the bit about sending me enough money to get me from Ghana to New York, however said sum can be easily deposited in my Pay Pal account and will definately be used "for the purposes intended" at great speed.
