As a truck driver, this evening I have come to the conclusion that MO never gets snow. They can't (yes, I know they do), because as soon as the 1st flurry starts, cars start slamming on the brakes and do 30mph in the middle lane. I damn near creamed 2 of them in St. Louis. Mind you it was only a light powdery snow, not the heavy wet stuff. Then came up on an accident, that traffic was backed up for 10 miles. Why? Well everyone has to look at the van crashed into the Jersey Barrier Wall. Get past that & I figure, great, now we'll move! WRONG!!!! 35 mph is all anyone would go. I finally stopped for about 15 minutes so I could get in with a different crowd & it wasn't any better. I finally made it to a rest area just outside of Boonville & parked it. My real worry is that tomorrow in Kansas City it's supposed to be -30 with the wind chill. 20 years ago I had frostbite on my toes & 2 years ago my finger, even with thick gloves, thermal socks & heavy boots I still lose feeling. I'm open to suggestions, because I WILL have to be in & out of the truck tomorrow. And if I can't find my gloves (they're in this disaster of a truck somewhere) I am NOT beyond wearing thermal socks to cover my hands, but it will take me up to 2 days to get feeling back if I have to stay in the area. Please everyone take the extra precautions to keep safe AND warm. And keep an emergency kit in your car. I learned that years ago for my truck, and if anyone wants any advice or suggestions for an emergency kit, please do NOT hesitate to ask, I would be more than happy to help. Also if anyone ever has any questions about the trucks please feel free to email me Lauri
