Status: offline 		I never had a problem with Dick Cheney in the past when he was secretary of defense in the Reagan administration. But lately I think of him as despicable and worse than dirt because he sent soldiers to their death so companies like Halliburton, Exxon and Blackwater could make money.

I don't believe Cheney fully distanced himself from his corporate past when he became vice president and I think he still collected bonus money or other income from companies like Halliburton, so he was not at arm's length and should have been investigated for a conflict of interest. I think that money wasn't investigated by the appropriate agency.

Additionally, I think Cheney was lucky when Lewis Libby lied to protect him during Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation. I think Fitzgerald would have proved to the American people the war in Iraq was a big fat lie.

I agree with Keith, Cheney is a sellout and a traitor and somebody like Obama should confront him; like Alice Cooper would say, "No more Mr. nice guy."

Pointing out that in the wake of the 9/11 attacks the Bush administration demanded "absolute apolitical patriotism" of the public in a time of war, Olbermann accused the former vice president of committing treason against the United States -- "morally, if not legally" -- when the former VP criticized President Barack Obama after the Christmas Day attempted airliner attack.

Days after the attempted downing of Northwest flight 253, Cheney told Politico that "we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren't, it makes us less safe."

That statement, Olbermann argued, amounts to treason by Cheney's own logic.

Status: offline 		You're right! Obama doesn't have the stones to do it and I hate to say that but you're right. Keith would do it but he's not the president so other than for entertainment purposes not much will be accomplished.

Status: offline 		That's my biggest problem with Obama. He won't make a decision without putting his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. He talks a good game but that's as far as it goes.

Olbermann and the rest of the far left are reacting. They are afraid of Dick Cheney because they know that he took national security very seriously, and that's a problem for Olbermann's crowd because compared to Bush & Cheney, our government is being run by clowns right now.

We nearly lost a jet full of innocent people to the panty bomber, for crying out loud. The guy was sending up every red flag there ever was and he was escorted right onto that airplane, but Obama's handpicked girl heading up Homeland Security Janet Napolitano claimed the system worked perfectly. Perfectly! And she's still got her job.

So now we're supposed to be foaming at the mouth and looking cross eyed at Dick Cheney???

You're kidding, right?

Dick Cheney took al-Qaeda seriously. I say give him Napolitano's job!

Hey, I think a couple of folks way in the back row missed you trying to take the focus off poor Dick Cheney.  I sympathize, though.  If Cheney was on my team, man, I'd be hoping for mass amnesia, too.

You really had to go there, didnt you. He got past security, local level, overseas. He never went through an american airport. Not to mention, the body scanners have the system of blocking crotch shots, since so many are afraid their privates will be on display... and thats where everything was hidden.

Now, didnt we have information that 9/11 was going to happen, and no one did anything with that information?

Lets do a comparison....

One man, on a watch list (according to accounts), on an international flight, attempts to set off a crotch rocket, that would have been hidden from any security scan we have available, and fails to complete his mission.

A group of known terrorists make threats against the US, and manage to implement said threats and destroy the trade towers, along with killing thousands of people.

But it wasnt Bushes fault, right?

Yet it IS Obama's fault, right?

This is your logic, yes?

That's not completely true, Serv.  He was perfectly happy to make a decision about the Cambridge Police and pass judgement, right after he said he didn't have all the facts.  He's also completely willing to try, try again after waiting three days to say the wrong thing.

Heeheehee.  Thanks for the giggle.

The 9-11 Commission noted that Clinton Administration officials briefed the incoming Bush Administration on efforts to eliminate al Qaeda, but the Bush Administration ignored warnings.  The outgoing officials and foreign intelligence agencies also warned the White House specifically that al Qaeda was planning an attack. The Bush White House later confirmed that Dubya was briefed on al Qaeda's intent to attack the United States, and was specifically warned that airplane hijackings could be involved. Additionally, Clinton's assistant secretary of Defense under President Clinton,  Brian Sheridan, said "I offered to brief anyone, any time on any topic [related to terrorism]. Never took it up."

Alas, Bush told Bob Woodward that when he was getting those warnings, before 9-11, "I didn't feel a sense of urgency."  He did, however, appoint Vice President Cheney to head a task force on terrorism.

But guess what, Sanity? In the four months between that announcement and 9-11, Cheney's task force on terrorism never met.

Oh, they were busy, though. The Administration cut the FBI's counter-terrorism funding request by nearly two-thirds, and ended flights of the unmanned Predator drone that had been tracking bin Laden, even though the aircraft had spotted bin Laden as many as three times in late 2000.

Darn, huh?
